This GS Adventure is powered by the 1,170 cc, liquid-cooled version of the iconic BMW boxer-twin engine, and rides on BMW’s famous combination of Paralever rear- and Telelever-front suspension which together justify its earned reputation as the undisputed global leader in the Adventure Motorcycle class. This one was a special “Style” option two-tone finish in Light White & Cordoba Blue with a matching blue frame for added visual distinction — gorgeous by anyone’s standards. It came from Germany fully loaded with an abundance of options. It has LED Headlight and Auxiliary Lights, On Board Computer Pro, Ride Modes Pro (rain, road, enduro, and enduro pro riding modes), Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment), TPM (Tire Pressure Monitoring), Keyless Ride, Gear Shift Assist Pro (up and down clutchless shifting), GPS Prep with Wonderwheel (to control music, navigation, phone calls etc., from the handlebar), Connectivity, Cruise Control, and of course, Heated Grips. Topping it off, literally, is a rugged BMW Aluminum Top Case that the previous owner chose to add for carrying his cargo. All together this bike makes a stunning impression. On the cosmetics scale, we critically rate it a 9.5+ out of 10. There is no damage or any sign of it ever having been used off-road. After giving it our impeccable deep cleaning and detailing, the only notable blemishes that remain are a small scrape on the right side engine protection bar that resulted from a tip-over (this, of course, is what engine protection systems, or “crash bars,” are designed for — to protect a bike’s more vulnerable parts from the inevitable times when gravity gets the better of you), and a very minor scratch on the windshield, top right side. Look closely and you might also spot the faint imprints of where the previous owner applied some stickers to the back of the top case. Those sticker shadows will eventually fade away; or, you could simply place your own stickers there instead — little travel trophies of the exciting places you’re sure to visit. In any case, with only a couple negligible and barely noticeable flaws, this bike proudly presents itself in “As New” condition, pretty much as if you just rolled it off the showroom floor for the first time.
This R1200GSA has had its full workout in our Service Department. Shortly before it was brought to us in trade, it had a thorough Annual Service done, so it’s carrying fresh fluids and filters. But of course, we checked to make sure every component and working system is in spec and in top performance condition. That also means it’s been completely safety checked and test ridden by our Master Certified Technicians. And, importantly, it has also passed the Maryland State Inspection. She’s ready to GO.
