This motorcycle is seven years old. With over 43,000 miles on the clock, you could say it’s had some experience. But we look at it this way: its previous 2 owners must have enjoyed riding it or they wouldn’t have ridden that many miles. Truthfully, it’s not a lot of miles for a BMW. You’re invited to put another 200K on it — why wouldn’t you? —THEN we’ll talk about some high mileage. Nevertheless, our Service Department pros did a thorough performance and safety evaluation and found no issues. The bike had an Annual Service less than a thousand miles before coming in on trade, so its engine, drivetrain, & brake fluids all checked out clean and fresh. Its tires, installed quite recently, are still like new, measuring 90%+ tread remaining. We went to the trouble of filling those tires with Nitrogen to maximize their longevity and performance characteristics going forward. There had apparently been a tip-over which left some bruises on a few bits. We opted to replace those parts, so you’ll launch with a clean slate cosmetically. Finally, we took the bike out for an extended Road Test to be sure all components and performance attributes met our high standards in a real-world riding environment; then, the rigorous Maryland Safety Inspection to assure the bike passes legal muster. The next owner of this fine R1200RT will ride secure in the knowledge that the machine is in flawless mechanical condition and won’t need any regular maintenance for thousands of miles to come.
Sharp-eyed observers will notice a few superficial marks on the left-side valve cover. That’s the only remaining evidence of the aforementioned tip-over. Otherwise, this motorcycle barely shows any signs of an earlier life. You would simply NOT guess it has over 40K on it.
