Riders looking for a different kind of Adventure now can choose between two KTM’s from our stable of outstanding pre-owned bikes. And please, if you haven’t already done so, look online to read what members of the moto-press have had to say about these Austrian-made marvels. They practically trip over themselves grabbing for superlatives to use in describing them. Cycle World, in their 2014 review, went so far as to suggest that the 1190 Adventure might be, “The best all-around bike in the world.” If that doesn’t inspire you to check it out, well, then… we’ll go a bit further. THIS 1190 Adventure is in premium condition mechanically and cosmetically, fully serviced, cleaned and detailed so well you might almost think it’s new, and TEST-RIDDEN by our pro techs to be SURE it’s as good as they say. One tech’s post-ride comment was: “WoooHOOOooo!” So, if you’re even a little curious to learn more, DON’T WAIT. What makes the KTM 1190 Adventure so great?

• An engine you will fall in love with — king of its class in outright horsepower, an awesome torque spread capped off by an exhilarating top-end rush, and crisp and responsive fuel delivery.
• Very effective electronics, including Bosch 9ME ABS, lean-angle-sensing traction control, and Electronic Damping System suspension, and more.
• Versatility! Easy-to-navigate menus let you select from four Ride Mode options: Street, Sport, Off-road, and Rain. Once again, from Cycle World’s 2014 review: “…this motorcycle does more things well in more conditions than any bike we’ve ever tested. It has near-sportbike performance on a winding road, offers comfort similar to that of more touring-oriented machines, and is capable of things off-road that no bike its size or power output should ever be capable of.” (We will not dwell on the fact that this writer for a notable national magazine, who probably gets paid considerably more than yours truly, ended his sentence with a preposition. The world is just not fair.)

The Optional Equipment on board this Adventure includes: KTM Engine Protection Bars, KTM heavy-gauge aluminum Skid Plate, KTM Auxiliary Driving Lights, Touratech Headlight Protection Grill, Heated Grips, and an accessory pigtail harness for SAE conversion. Good stuff.

In our Service Department this machine had a very thorough checkup and workout. Every safety and performance metric was tested and adjusted as necessary. (It didn’t need much!)  Then, as part of this bike’s prep, it got NEW TIRES – front and rear (filled with nitrogen), fresh Oil & Filter, Chain lube and adjustment, and a new Air Filter. Next was an extended TEST RIDE (see our tester’s discerning technical commentary above), and finally the Maryland Safety Inspection — it’s much more rigorous than most states — which it aced without even a glance at the test paper on the desk of the bike next to it. You are cleared for TAKE-OFF!

When you look closely at this bike, you will see typical signs of use for a bike with 10K on it. Actually, we think it looks like much less than typical. Note the very minor scratches visible on the engine protection bars on both sides, a tiny chip in the paint on the lower edge of the right-side body panel, typical bronze patina of the exhaust system plus a small scratch on the muffler guard, and a very small abrasion on gas tank at the rear most likely from a belt buckle. These are the imperfections that stand out, but let’s be clear, they don’t stand out much. Bottom line: the motorcycle looks GREAT. There is absolutely nothing about its appearance to spoil the party you’ll want to have when you take possession. Like our test rider said, “WoooHOOOooo!”

That could be what YOU say when you discover how it feels to ride this KTM 1190 Adventure. Do it soon!
