You may be wondering what it’s like to ride such an elite thoroughbred. Well, the first thing you’ll notice is the crushing acceleration. And if that hasn’t made you too light-headed, you might then notice the high-pitched exhaust howl and the crackle and pop of the quickshifter doing its thing through the gears. But with its clever, semi-active suspension that constantly adjusts the damping as you ride, predictable power delivery and race-grade brakes, you simply can’t ruffle the BMW HP4’s feathers on the road. A choice of four electronic riding modes gives you ascending levels of engine response and suspension stiffness and descending levels of traction control, anti-wheelie and ABS. So, there’s a mode to increase performance and safety to suit any conditions.

The HP4 didn’t have too many Factory Options available for it simply because it came stock with pretty much everything. When this HP4 came to us, our Master Certified BMW technicians went to work to check every component and every system, top to bottom. It turned out there was not a lot of work for them to do other than making slight adjustments to anything that didn’t measure at or above BMW factory spec. The bike was in great shape already because, as we mentioned, it had been faithfully serviced by its owner. Nevertheless, we performed a Bi-Annual Service which includes engine oil & filter change, a full brake fluid change, fresh air filter, and a complete chain service. The tires on the bike, though installed four years ago, had only 700 miles ridden on them and easily met our exacting standards for tread and rubber quality. We took the bike out for a 14-mile test ride (in this case, our techs might call it a JOY ride) to make absolutely sure all its functions and performance attributes measured up. Lastly, it was run through the rigorous Maryland State Inspection which it passed, of course.
