The BMW G650S Sertão was designed as a strong off-roader that can effortlessly handle any type of terrain. But thanks to its capable overall ride characteristics the bike is perfectly suited for everyday riding on either country roads or city streets. THIS example, while not flawless, is in very good condition and, surprisingly for being seven years old, has but 5,000 miles on it. Judging by the superficial surface wear on the rugged SW-MOTECH “Trax” aluminum adventure cases included with this machine, some of those miles may have been accumulated off-road. We like to see bikes ridden as they’re intended to be used, so we’d consider these to be simply the badges of experience proudly earned. But then, step back a couple of paces and this bike, like almost all of our pre-owned inventory, gleams in showroom condition. You’ll find nothing at all on this motorcycle to detract from your riding pleasure, or dampen your pride in ownership.
At the heart of the BMW G650GS Sertão beats a 652 cc engine which generates 50 hp at 6500 rpm and a maximum torque of 44 lb/ft at 5000 rpm. Fuel consumption is rated at only 74 mpg at a constant 55 mph speed. If you push the engine to its limits and you’ll be able to reach a maximum speed of 105 mph, plenty in any circumstance you’d consider riding this single cylinder bike. Thanks to its ABS the braking performance of the G 650 GS Sertão reaches a new level on wet asphalt. Apart from riding safety, a high level of comfort is ensured by the heated grips and the accessory socket which ensures easy battery charging and ready access to 12V juice for your powered accessories. And when you do take this machine off the pavement and into the outback, you’ll appreciate that it’s equipped with hand guards and skid plate, and most importantly, a taller, tougher suspension system designed to provide the perfect balance of compliance and performance for your off-road adventures.
Mechanically, our BMW Certified technicians left no stone unturned (a phrase apropos for such a versatile off-roader as this) to give this bike a thorough examination. Not long prior to its being traded in, the previous owner had treated it to a full Bi-Annual service and new front and rear tires. Thus, all fluids, filters, and rubber are still fresh and good to go, now and for many months and miles to come. Additionally, in preparation for making the bike ready for sale, we completed a full Maryland State Inspection and Bob’s BMW 38-Point Safety Inspection, both of which it passed with flying colors. Then we filled its tires with nitrogen to enhance performance and longevity. Finally, we did an extended test ride to be sure all functions met BMW performance standards (or better), and that its next owner would have no concerns as to the complete safety and road-worthiness of this machine.
Cosmetically, aside from the minor surface marks on those big SW-MOTECH aluminum side cases mentioned above, there is one other issue on this bike worth noting: a small blemish mark on the plastic tank top panel (visible in photo). Otherwise, you’ll see only wear patina on the exhaust system typical the bike’s age. Our in-house pro detailer performed his feats of magic to revive the bike’s appearance to nearly new status.
Being fully serviced and in such great cosmetic and mechanical condition this G650GS Sertão is a Bob’s BMW Advantage Certified Bike.
