Description

SOLD!

This clean, solid and running K1300GT Project Bike was almost NOT a Project Bike. Its condition was just a few points away from where we would have undertaken the minor restoration it needed ourselves and sold it in our lineup of premium pre-owned bikes. But we decided not to, and you’re invited to read on to learn the whole story. OR… if you already recognize what a special opportunity and super value this bike is RIGHT NOW, come on in or call 1-888-269-2627 to speak with one of our BMW Certified Sales Advisors — Paris, Jim, or Todd. Do it TODAY!

As with all PROJECT BIKES, we want buyers to know as much as possible about the bike before making a purchase. We’ve nothing to hide and our only goal is that the new owner for each and every PROJECT BIKE feels they paid fairly and got a good, if not great value in the deal. We encourage people to call, schedule a time to meet with one of our sales advisors and inspect each machine in person so they fully understand all the positives as well as the potential downsides involved in the refurbishing process. Please take a moment to learn more about Bob’s PROJECT BIKE program and read our general disclaimer HERE.

This K1300GT was sold new at Bob’s in March, 2010. It has had just one owner, a Maryland resident who is a dedicated BMW enthusiast and who enjoyed riding his bike regularly. You’ll be pleased to know he cared for the bike well and had it serviced faithfully at Bob’s. This Project Bike‘s service history is thoroughly documented. Notably, it had a major 54K Service done in December, 2019, and just last month an Annual Service where engine oil & filter, drive train oils, and brake fluid were all changed.

The K1300GT is a fantastic motorcycle with a powerful 4 cylinder, transverse inline liquid-cooled engine delivering sportbike-worthy performance to tune of 160 hp. Keeping all those thrills easily manageable are BMW’s renowned Duolever front- and Paralever rear-suspension, along with the industry’s best ABS braking system. On top of those standard features, this K1300GT also came with ESA II (Electronic Suspension Adjustment), ASC (Automatic Stability Control), Xenon Headlights, Tire Pressure Monitoring, Electronic Cruise Control, Heated Grips, Heated Seats for both rider & passenger, Adjustable Tall Windscreen, and On Board Computer to monitor fuel, mileage and other functions. Lots of cargo capacity with the factory color-matched Side Cases and 49 Liter Top Case which are also key matched to the ignition. And if that’s not enough, there’s a large BMR luggage rack mounted atop the top case to carry the extras! The previous owner also installed some nice PIAA fork-mounted Driving Lights, and an adjustable handlebar mounted GPS bracket.

So exactly WHY is this a PROJECT BIKE?
Here’s the part y’all want to know, right? OK, we won’t hold back. This machine is actually in very good condition mechanically. It starts, idles, shifts, handles, accelerates, and brakes exactly as it should. No worries. The only mechanical issues of concern are not very serious ones and they are listed below in the Service Notes. The reason we decided to make this a Project Bike, and not simply a regular pre-owned offering, was its cosmetic problems. Honestly, if our paint and body experts weren’t already backed up with several weeks of work, we would have had the cosmetic things fixed and offered this in spotless perfectly restored condition. Of course, it would then be priced a LOT higher. That’s what makes this bike in its present condition such a GREAT BUY. We know a lot of riders who would be happy riding it as is without ever bothering to take care of its appearance issues. And that’s okay. VALUE is where you see it.

Service Notes on this K1300GT PROJECT BIKE
MECHANICAL:
 • Bike will not pass MSI (Maryland Safety Inspection) because both front and the rear brake rotors are out of spec and need to be replaced. All the brake pads front and rear also need to be replaced.
 • The center stand is difficult to operate. Stiff. Maybe needs some straightening or just lubrication.
 • The tires passed inspection but just barely. We strongly urge replacement – soon!
COSMETIC:
 • The right side of the fairing is cracked (lower section) and scratched, including scratches on the inset logo panel.
 • Other damage to the right side includes scratches on foot brake lever, bar-end weight, and mirror. The hand brake lever is slightly bent.
 • On the left side there are a few small scratches on the fairing.
 • Finish on the passenger grab rails is worn.
 • Front fender shows some paint chips. Rear fender has several stickers on the back.
 • There are minor scuffs on the top of the tank, right side engine cover, exhaust, and both side cases. Some or all of these may be removed or reduced with proper detailing.
 • There is excessive corrosion on the rear shock spring.

Please look at the photos very carefully to see for yourself the kind of cosmetic issues we’re discussing. Better yet, come in to see the bike in person. We believe you will conclude that this Project Bike is not really all that much of a project. With a relatively small investment, it will pass inspection. Then you’ll have a glorious motorcycle to ride this spring and summer— during which time you could contemplate how, when, or even IF you want to make it look as good as it runs. Yours to decide. Yours to ride. But we suggest you come quickly before it gets away!
