BMW riders as a group usually enjoy caring for their bikes almost as much as they enjoy riding them. That is not the case with everyone, however. Some would rather simply RIDE their bike, and as far as appearance goes, let the chips fall where they may, so to speak. We are selling this machine as a PROJECT BIKE because, well… a lot of chips have fallen. While having accumulated respectable mileage, just under 35,000 miles, it has a greater number of cosmetic issues than we’d normally expect to see on something of this age. But for some smart buyers, the words “PROJECT BIKE” are just code words for GREAT VALUE — either because they enjoy working on bikes and relish the challenge of repair and refurbishing, or they’re just the type who don’t care so much about appearances and are glad to have found a bike that still runs and performs splendidly as this one does — despite the nicks and dings on the surface — at a super BARGAIN price. THIS motorcycle is one such machine, and some lucky rider will be glad to snap it up!
This one-owner K1200GT has PASSED MARYLAND STATE INSPECTION and is ready to ride and enjoy right now. And it includes the following great performance features and accessories:
• Color-matched BMW Integral Side Cases and 49L Top Case
• ZTechnik V-Stream Windshield
• BMW/Garmin Nav IV GPS
• ESA II (Electronic Suspension Adjustment)
• On Board Computer
• Heated Grips
• Heated Seat
• Electronic Cruise Control
As with all PROJECT BIKES we want buyers to know as much as possible about the bike before making a purchase. We’ve nothing to hide and our only goal is that the new owner for each and every PROJECT BIKE feels they paid fairly and got a good, if not great value in the deal. We encourage people to call, schedule a time to meet with one of our sales advisors and inspect each machine in person so they fully understand all the positives as well as the potential downsides involved in the refurbishing process. We’re proud to have sold well over a hundred PROJECT BIKES since beginning the program some years ago. Our aim with these bikes — indeed, with all the bikes we sell — is exceptional customer satisfaction. By that measure, our PROJECT BIKES have proven to be an overwhelming success. We’ve even taken a few of them back in trade as good used bikes after their owners finished doing all the work and then enjoyed riding the bikes for a number of years.

At Bob’s we did perform some necessary maintenance on this PROJECT BIKE to enable it to pass inspection and to prepare it for sale. On the Duolever front suspension, we replaced the upper & lower ball joints. Also we replaced some missing bodywork fasteners. Other than that, we pass this bike along to you in AS-IS condition. You’ll be glad to know, however, that our thorough initial examination and analysis of it indicates that it’s in quite good running condition. The most recent routine service was done in 2017 so, of course, it’s due for maintenance which would include full fluid and filter change. We would also recommend that the tires, though they’re still able to pass inspection, should be replaced soon because of their age.
So what’s left are only cosmetic issues. But be advised, we would describe them as extreme: lots of paint chips, scratches, nicks and dings, surface rust and other effects of exposure. Some you can see in the photos, but you would probably notice even more upon personal examination. While there doesn’t seem to be any evidence the bike was ever actually crashed, it’s just safe to say that it was “ridden hard and put away wet” for most of its life, and probably not garaged often, if ever. We only gave the bike a light wash. Undoubtedly, a thorough detailing would do much to improve this PROJECT BIKE‘s appearance. But truthfully, there are some blemishes that will only be made to disappear through repair and repaint, or just replacing bodywork. Again, all this is optional. The bike rides and runs great. We know that to some folks, beauty is only skin deep; and that nicks and dings are merely badges of experience to be worn proudly. So be it.
The bike comes with only one key; no tool kit and no owner’s manual. Yet it’s priced to cause a stampede to our door. Come in now to have a look for yourself. Or to learn more, contact one of our certified BMW sales advisors TODAY!
