Description
We’re calling this a PROJECT BIKE. You would probably call it an AMAZING OPPORTUNITY. More info on this 16-year-old “Time Capsule” R1150RT with — unbelievably — only 608 miles on it will be shown here soon. Wanna know more RIGHT NOW? Then call 1-888-269-2627 to speak with one of our BMW Certified Sales Advisors — Paris, Jim, or Todd. Call TODAY!
Sneak Preview: Though we were not told WHY the bike was almost never ridden for over 16 years in the possession of its only owner (who purchased it new here at Bob’s in 2003) it was clear to us that some lucky new owner with a yearning for travel on an excellent machine from a somewhat simpler time was about to get a marvelous motorcycle and a BARGAIN to boot!
According to our top technician who, by the way, worked at Bob’s when these bikes were new, “The bike rides and runs like a brand new R1150RT out of the box!” Then why are we selling it as a PROJECT BIKE? Please read on.
We installed NEW TIRES, a NEW BATTERY, and added fresh fuel. The bike starts, runs and operates as designed, and it’s in very good cosmetic condition. It passes Maryland State Inspection! You can TEST RIDE it now, and certainly ride it home safely when you buy it. Here’s the “But.” Since it was not regularly ridden or serviced for so long, we cannot be 100% confident in the longevity of some components such as the fuel pump, ABS, and others which, without regular use and service, are simply vulnerable to the passage of time. With that said, everything is now operating as designed. A new owner who actually rides and cares for this bike could easily expect 100,000 + miles of happy touring ahead. But we just don’t know, so we are selling it as a PROJECT BIKE.
As with all PROJECT BIKES we want buyers to know as much as possible about the bike before making a purchase. We’ve nothing to hide and our only goal is that the new owner for each and every PROJECT BIKE feels they paid fairly and got a good, if not great value in the deal. We encourage people to call, schedule a time to meet with one of our sales advisors and inspect each machine in person so they fully understand all the positives as well as the potential downsides involved in the refurbishing process.
