As with all PROJECT BIKES we want buyers to know as much as possible about the bike before making a purchase. We’ve nothing to hide and our only goal is that the new owner for each and every Project Bike feels they paid fairly and got a good, if not great value in the deal. We encourage people to call, schedule a time to meet with one of our sales advisors and inspect each machine in person so they fully understand all the positives as well as the potential downsides involved in the refurbishing process. This bike really doesn’t need much serious work to bring it back to fully functional fun. When it was brought into our shop it was not running, but when we drained the old gas, added a couple fresh gallons, and installed new battery, it started right up and went down the road just fine. It’s a Project Bike, and so it still needs a routine full service — not such big a project for someone with moderate mechanical skills. And then there are its numerous little cosmetic imperfections; repairing these is discretionary, of course. Some riders will gladly take on the challenge of a full restoration while others will be just as happy to ride it as is. The bike really doesn’t look too bad, but here are the things we found to report: there is some mild rust here and there. You’ll see some tip-over damage on the right side, and a very small dent in the gas tank. Also, the valve covers are discolored and their paint has bubbled. Essentially, the bike looks fairly typical for a dual-sport machine with over 90,000 miles on it. Stories of a life well lived are clearly evident in its patina. But if you know BMWs, then you also know that Project Bikes like these are nowhere near worn out at that mileage. A well-cared-for Oilhead Boxer of this type can easily be expected to exceed 200,000 miles. This one belonged to one of our regular customers and so it has lots of service history at Bob’s. But since 2014, the bike was mostly parked. Let’s just say, then, that it’s had its midlife crisis. Now it’s YOUR turn to climb on and begin writing the next chapters of a Great Adventure!
This R1150GS Adventure Project Bike comes with some highly desirable FEATURES:
• Öhlins Suspension, Front and Rear! These great shocks were installed on this bike new at Bob’s in 2013. They have less than 13,000 miles on them!
• Jesse Aluminum Luggage! These famously indestructible cases hold an enormous amount of stuff, and they’re removable. Please note, however, that there are no keys with this set of bags. (Replacement keys should be available from Jesse.)
• Black LEATHER Comfort Seat!
• Cee Bailey Tall Windscreen
• PIAA Auxiliary Lights
• Touratech Large Luggage Rack
• BMW Engine Protection Bars and Valve Cover Protectors
• Handlebar Risers to provide a more comfortable riding posture
• Footpeg Lowering Kit installed for additional rider comfort
• Larger Sidestand Foot for more secure parking in dirt, mud, or or soft asphalt
Additionally, the bike boasts Integral ABS brakes, Heated Grips, Rider Information Display, and BMW’s justifiably famous Telelever front- and Paralever Rear-suspension, which when augmented with the included Öhlins shocks, delivers truly remarkable handling.
As mentioned above, the bike has a brand NEW BATTERY. The Original Owner’s Books, Factory Tool Kit, and Three Keys are also included.
Please note: This motorcycle was photographed at two separate sessions a week apart. The first shoot (in low-resolution) shows the Jesse Luggage, but for the second shoot (high-res) they were inadvertently left off. But the Jesse Bags are INCLUDED with this bike! Also, you may notice two different seats. The red and grey stock seat in the first shoot was worn rather badly, so was removed and replaced by an all-black LEATHER seat for the second shoot. It is only the better quality, higher value Leather seat that comes with this bike.
Here’s your chance to save a BUNDLE on a great bike while also enjoying the work of refurbishing it. It does have some maintenance needs — after all, it is a Project Bike — and some of that work is required before the bike will pass Maryland State Inspection. But it runs well now, so there’s really not that much to do before you have a safe and fully functional motorcycle. In other words: there’s plenty of light at the end of a short tunnel. And the VALUE here is unmistakable. Call or visit Bob’s NOW to learn more!
