Description

Here is a PROJECT BIKE that will give you something to do over the winter months, then come spring you’ll be able to ride this splendid Cruiser to show off your efforts — because it’s not that far away from being fully safe and functional enough to pass inspection. The bike RUNS, and runs pretty well, actually. But it’s quite obvious that its cosmetic condition is mediocre, and it has one or two mechanical issues (only one is serious: the ABS doesn’t work) which is why we decided to offer it as a PROJECT BIKE. However, we are confident that there are no problems here that an enterprising do-it-yourselfer mechanic couldn’t handle at home; and the results are certain to be rewarding. Come in and see it for yourself now. We think you’ll be planning to clear some workspace in your garage for this PROJECT BIKE right away. Call 1-888-269-2627 to speak with one of our BMW Certified Sales Advisors —Jim, or Todd. Call TODAY!

As with all PROJECT BIKES, we want buyers to know as much as possible about the bike before making a purchase. We’ve nothing to hide and our only goal is that the new owner for each and every PROJECT BIKE feels they paid fairly and got a good, if not great value in the deal. We encourage people to call, schedule a time to meet with one of our sales advisors and inspect each machine in person so they fully understand all the positives as well as the potential downsides involved in the refurbishing process. We’re proud to have sold well over a hundred Project Bikes since beginning the program some years ago. Our aim with these bikes — indeed, with all the bikes we sell — is exceptional customer satisfaction. By that measure, our Project Bikes have proven to be an overwhelming success. We’ve even taken a few of them back in trade as good used bikes after their owners finished doing all the work and then enjoyed riding the bikes for a number of years. Please take a moment to learn more about Bob’s PROJECT BIKE program and read our general disclaimer here.

This R1200C has quite a few GOOD Points!
• The bike starts with the first push of the starter.
• Accelerates well
• Shifts through all gears
• Heated grips work
• All lights (except tag light) function as designed
• Rear suspension feels ok
• Saddlebags (original-leather covered) open and close properly
• New Battery installed this summer

And a few things you’ll need to address on this Project Bike:
• ABS is not working
• Crash bar on the left side is loose
• Windscreen is loose and very cloudy – you can’t see through it
• Fork seals are leaking
• Corrosion visible on most of the chrome, excessive in a few spots
• Other Scuffs, scratches, and weathering are evident, though not much beyond typical for its age

The BMW R1200C is the cruiser that combined BMW’s famous 1170 cc Oil-Head Boxer Motor performance with low-slung American-inspired styling, becoming well known for its comfortable ride, capable handling (good enough for James Bond!), and on-the-road reliability. As we’ve mentioned, this bike is in overall good running condition, but will need the ABS issues sorted out, its fork seals replaced, and a couple other very minor repairs before it will pass Maryland Safety Inspection. It’s also afflicted with numerous minor cosmetic issues because it was apparently kept outside much of the time. Much of that can be improved with standard finish restoration techniques (detailing). So, if you’re a rider who either doesn’t care about glimmer and shine, or someone who enjoys a restoration project that requires a little elbow grease, HERE is your PROJECT BIKE! And what a Value!
