Look at these pictures. Do you wonder how a bike of this age and with some miles on it can possibly look like it just rolled out of the showroom for the first time? To begin with, the bike was always garage kept, faithfully maintained, and diligently cared for. Those are the critical factors. Still, when it first arrived for our evaluation, we thought the bike looked a little dingy. But that was before our in-house pro detailer went to work on it. He was able restore its like-new glimmer with talents and techniques we could only describe as supernatural. The result, as you can plainly see, is amazing! And we can promise that you’ll be no less impressed when you view it in person. But hurry; a line is forming.
On the service end of things, our certified Master Techs covered this machine from top to bottom, checking every component and function for safety, mechanical integrity, and performance, correcting and adjusting as needed. In the process it received a Bi-Annual Service (replace engine oil & filter, and drivetrain oils), a full ABS system bleed and brake fluid replacement, and because the bike had been ridden very little in the last couple years, a thorough fuel system treatment. To complete its mechanical revival, we also installed a new oil level sight glass and a NEW BATTERY. Out for an extended test ride as our final check, then the official approval given upon passing Maryland Safety Inspection, you’ve got a motorcycle here that’s as reliable and roadworthy as it is resplendent.
This R1150R, though a standard roadster model, does come with a few nice extras. Its factory options include Integral ABS, Heated Grips, Low Seat, Overdrive transmission, and the special two-tone paint scheme (Dakar Yellow and Ferro Metallic) with graphics and blacked-out engine and drivetrain which was a limited-edition finish at the time. On top of that, the previous owner added a BMW Luggage Rack with Side Case mounting system, BMW sport windshield, MotoLights fork-mounted auxiliary driving lights, and some very cleverly disguised highway pegs called J-Pegs. These black-anodized pegs, when not in use, fold discreetly into the center cavity of the valve covers to become practically invisible. Nice!
