Description

Picture yourself riding to distant destinations on a bike that’s painted the same beautiful color as the bright blue skies under which you roam; a bike that’s as capable as it is comfortable for a long day’s ride; and best of all, a bike that brings a smile to your face every time you ride — particularly when you think about what an incredible VALUE you got when you bought it as a PROJECT BIKE from Bob’s!

As you can see, this bike looks GOOD, and it has PASSED MARYLAND STATE INSPECTION. However, its mileage (89K+) places it a little outside the range that fits comfortably in our normal Pre-Owned Motorcycle business plan. And that’s why we’re offering it as a PROJECT BIKE. But classic Oil-Heads like this are popular models for good reason; this one is very well equipped, and most importantly, it has LOTS of life and miles left to give an owner willing to invest a little bit of their time and talent to maintain it. We checked it over thoroughly and found that all its critical systems are in excellent condition. It’s just due for a bit of routine maintenance, a couple of minor repairs, and it should get new tires quite soon. Still, the value here is exceptional!

Here are some of great Features and Accessories included!
  • Color-matched BMW System Side Cases and 33L Top Case
  • Corbin Dual Saddle
  • Aeroflow Tall Windscreen, Electronically Height-Adjustable
  • Aeroflow Headlight Lens Guard
  • Two Brothers Muffler
  • Stainless Steel Brake Lines Upgrade
  • BMW Valve Cover Protectors
  • Heated Grips plus comfort grip covers
  • Throttlemeister Throttle Lock
  • Ram Mount dash-mount for accessories
  • LED Replacement Tail Light & Turn Signal Bulbs, Clear Lenses
  • Wunderlich Clock
  • Wunderlich Gauge Cluster Rings

As with all PROJECT BIKES we want buyers to know as much as possible about the bike before making a purchase. We’ve nothing to hide and our only goal is that the new owner for each and every PROJECT BIKE feels they paid fairly and got a good, if not great value in the deal. We encourage people to call, schedule a time to meet with one of our sales advisors and inspect each machine in person so they fully understand all the positives as well as the potential downsides involved in the refurbishing process. We’re proud to have sold well over a hundred PROJECT BIKES since beginning the program some years ago. Our aim with these bikes — indeed, with all the bikes we sell — is exceptional customer satisfaction. By that measure, our PROJECT BIKES have proven to be an overwhelming success. We’ve even taken a few of them back in trade as good used bikes after their owners finished doing all the work and then enjoyed riding the bikes for a number of years.

Please take a moment to learn more about Bob’s PROJECT BIKE program and read our general disclaimer here:  http://www.bobsbmw.com/new-motorcycles/project-bikes/.

Now let’s take a moment to run down this bike’s flaws and foibles. There has been some repainting, maybe done at two different times or maybe by two different people, we’re not sure; but the result is a very slight but discernible variation in the color. It’s not a big thing, just something worth mentioning. There is tip-over damage visible on right side valve cover guard, and bar-end weight. The glove box hinge is broken. The nice Corbin Seat is a heated model but the heat function does not work because its wiring harness is broken. It would be repairable without much complication. As mentioned above, the bike needs new tires. The ones currently on it are dated from 2012 and they were just barely sufficient to pass inspection. You can ride on them legally, but really you should change them now.

The bike runs really well. We looked at everything, and it should be noted that the ABS system and the clutch checked out perfectly. We changed the engine oil and filter, replaced the oil sight glass, then put it through a Maryland State Inspection which it PASSED. Its documented service history includes brake fluid and engine and drive train oils last changed in mid-2017 or 2,500 miles ago. So there is other routine scheduled maintenance that it should get, not urgently, but soon. We didn’t detail the bike; only washed it. It’s easy to see that with a real thorough cleaning and detail, this motorcycle would look fantastic. Your friends would never guess you bought a PROJECT BIKE!

The bike comes with two keys, complete tool kit, and the original owners books. It may be a PROJECT BIKE, but it’s one you can confidently ride home today — and for years to come. To learn more, contact one of our certified BMW sales advisors TODAY!
