As with all PROJECT BIKES we want buyers to know as much as possible about the bike before making a purchase. We’ve nothing to hide and our only goal is that the new owner for each and every PROJECT BIKE feels they paid fairly and got a good, if not great value in the deal. We encourage people to call, schedule a time to meet with one of our sales advisors and inspect each machine in person so they fully understand all the positives as well as the potential downsides involved in the refurbishing process.

THIS BIKE RUNS — but because there are quite a few unknowns, we would call it a “full on “PROJECT BIKE“. That means it will likely take some work to bring it back to completely safe, reliable, and road-worthy condition. Note, however, that in our quick evaluation of it we did not find evidence of any glaring problems. Its previous owner described a gear box issue preventing the bike from starting and from shifting into neutral. However we were able to start the bike with the choke on and it starts and idles fine. Our technician took it for a short 10-minute, 5 mile test ride and reported back that everything functions fine. The bike runs, idles, pulls; the gearbox does work, shifts through all gears, and easily finds neutral. So perhaps there’s a problem that arises after extended use or once the bike gets warmer, but we were unable to confirm that.
The cosmetics on this PROJECT BIKE are not really bad considering its age and mileage. You’ll find some minor scratches here and there, some corrosion, mainly on the wheels. But otherwise no major issues. Overall, it looks good. The seat looks very good and the mirrors seem brand new. The bike does have what looks like fairly new tires too (previous owner claimed they have only 150 miles on them, but we did not install them and cannot verify). The only service history we have on this bike is that a Bi-Annual Service was done here at Bob’s in 2016.
Perhaps this is a PROJECT BIKE that would appeal to someone who enjoys gambling. Roll the dice! if you’re really lucky you’ll barely have to do anything to end up with a nice, affordable, single cylinder runabout. Or, worst case scenario, you might have to get your hands dirty for a weekend to make everything right. Either way, we’d say it’s a pretty good deal.
