Big decisions can be difficult to make. The previous owner of this Honda Valkyrie Tourer had to make one. He truly loved riding it, but he’d come to a point in his life where he simply felt, in his words, “too old to ride anymore.” Yes, there was poignant sadness on the day he brought the bike to us to sell. But it could not erase all the happy memories this man had accumulated over so many years and countless rides. The Valkyrie, however, Honda’s big cruiser based on the indestructible Gold Wing engine, is thus a bike known to “live forever.” And so it goes. This PROJECT BIKE, while proudly wearing a few outward signs of its previous sorties, and still in need of a just a little further maintenance to be in its best form, now stands ready to take flight again — to deliver many more great missions to a new pilot. We have SERVICED and tested this PROJECT BIKE to assure its overall mechanical integrity, safety, and road-worthiness. In that process we did quite a lot: a full engine & drivetrain fluid/filter change that included front & rear brake fluid, clutch fluid, and coolant. We cleaned the spark plugs and applied a fuel system treatment. And we gave it NEW TIRES front & rear and filled them with nitrogen to enhance their performance and wear characteristics. Luckily, this bike had been well cared for in its previous life (the previous owner, though not its first, had it for about 15 years) and we have other aspects of its service history available for review. In fact, this bike has passed the stringent Maryland Safety Inspection and can be ridden home as is. So what’s YOUR part in this bike’s ultimate revival? What it still needs to run in top flight condition — and this is why we’re offering it as a PROJECT BIKE — is a full carb rebuild and tune up. Those tasks definitely fall in the EASY category for a lot of you do-it-yourselfers out there.

On the COSMETIC side of things, as we mentioned, this PROJECT BIKE shows its history – but gently. On close inspection you will find there is minor pitting on numerous chrome surfaces throughout the bike and some small scuffs and scratches on painted surfaces here and there. None of it is severe or even approaches the level of saying, “Ouch.” The bike had tipped over (show me a bike that hasn’t!) and so, of course, there are a few little scratches on the engine guards. But this motorcycle looks GOOD! Our pro detailer did a great job restoring some of the original luster to its aging finishes. The result is that you’ll feel nothing but pride when you’re seen on the boulevard, the highway, or anywhere you choose to cruise.
This Honda Valkyrie Tourer comes with two keys, a Clymer Repair Manual, and a few other pieces of relevant supplemental literature. All you need to do is clear some work space in your garage, then come and throw a leg over this beauty to ride it home and get started on those finishing touches!
