This G310GS was purchased at Bob’s and had its service done here too. With barely over 1,000 miles ridden, the bike is, of course, in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. Here’s a big BONUS: it remains covered under the original BMW Factory Warranty until May 14, 2024 – or 36.000 miles, whichever comes first. What a perfect opportunity to get started on a BMW! It’s lightweight and nimble, with a 34 horsepower, torquey, single cylinder motor that behaves in sporting fashion and feels as much FUN as it does capable and controlled.
While a bike such as this BMW G310GS could be called an “entry level” model, it’s still a BMW! That means the classification takes nothing away from the quality of the build, the durability, or the FUN that can be had riding one; that label merely describes the niche it fills in the marketplace. Yes, some riders will use an entry level bike as a stepping stone to something bigger later on. But for many others, a basic model like this compact dual-sport fulfills their needs perfectly and no further upgrading is necessary. It’s a great runabout in the city or suburbs, and a total pleasure out on the twisting ribbons of country blacktop. What if the pavement ends before your explorations are over? No worries! Because of this bike’s chassis design and compliant suspension, along with its special equipment like a skid plate and handguards, you can feel confident taking on rougher surfaces. Dirt, mud, rugged gravel roads are not a problem.
And how well does it run, exactly? Answer: flawlessly. When it came back to us in trade, we gave it our thorough safety and performance evaluation and found only one issue requiring attention: the chain was a bit loose. We readjusted the tension, lubed it, and everything’s back on track. Incidentally, our top technicians leave no stone unturned when they examine pre-owned bikes – even ones with very low miles that appear to be in perfect condition. Every component and performance aspect is checked out, first on the lift, and then as part of a critical test ride. In this case, the previous owner had brought it to our Service Department for scheduled maintenance just one month prior to its being brought back to trade – and with barely any miles ridden in the interim. It had an Annual Service which includes an oil & filter change and general checkup. Naturally, we put the bike through the tough Maryland Safety Inspection and passed without a hitch.
On the cosmetic side of things, well, you can see for yourself: the bike is practically flawless. There was, however, a gentle tip-over at some point in its short history which left some telltale evidence: a small patch of scuffs on the lower edge of the muffler’s heat shield (visible in the photos) and a minuscule scratch on the right-side bar-end which is almost invisible. Despite these negligible blems, if you told someone you bought this bike new yesterday, they’d see no reason to disbelieve you. Of course, our in-house pro detailer did his magic on this machine to bring out its best, and it truly shines as good as new. Only one thing could make this bike look better: the beaming smile on your face when you ride it home.
