We’re calling this a PROJECT BIKE. You would probably call it an AMAZING OPPORTUNITY. This bike is only 21 years young — hey, that’s old enough to vote! We’re guessing this bike would vote for YOU to be the one to give it the relatively small amount of TLC it needs to thrive for the next 21 years. This R1150R runs and rides! Its previous owner even rode it to our shop. But we’ll be honest, the bike needs some service to be a fully safe and roadworthy machine. And that’s why it’s a PROJECT BIKE. Luckily, though, most of what it needs is routine stuff (more details below). You have to admit, though, it looks pretty good right now. And without too much effort, you’ll be able to make it look even better; and have it running safe and sound too, of course! Someone is about to get a marvelous motorcycle and a BARGAIN to boot! This quick and sweet-handling roadster (It’s got BMW Televever front- and Paralever rear- suspension!) is from the laudable “Oil-head” period of air and oil-cooled Boxer Twins. It’s a strong and reliable machine from a somewhat simpler time, which is a good thing for our many PROJECT BIKE customers who enjoy doing their own mechanical work at home. This bike comes with some desirable Factory Options and Accessory Equipment too: Heated Grips | Integral ABS | Overdrive Transmission | Low Seat | Touring Windshield | BMW Touring Side Cases | Givi Top Case | Wrist Rest Throttle Control | BMW Valve Cover Protectors. What else could you want?
Our Service Department gave this PROJECT BIKE a thorough diagnostic evaluation, and here’s what it needs: new Tires, a new Battery, a new rear Brake Rotor, and of course, a full Fluid and Filter change. That’s a pretty short list, wouldn’t you agree? Yes, there are some cosmetic needs too, but none of it is critical — tasks you can address later at your convenience: for instance, the wire sheathing for the handlebar control switch clusters has deteriorated (can be repaired with the proper tape), and the numerous signs of aging elsewhere on the bike such as corrosion and other typical wear. With some simple elbow grease or possibly a few bits of replacement hardware, you can make this bike look its BEST!
As with all PROJECT BIKES we want buyers to know as much as possible about the bike before making a purchase. We’ve nothing to hide and our only goal is that the new owner for every PROJECT BIKE feels they paid fairly and got a good, if not GREAT value in the deal. We encourage people to call, schedule a time to meet with one of our sales advisors, and inspect each machine in person so they fully understand all the positives as well as the potential downsides involved in the refurbishing process. Don’t let this one get away. Call Bob’s TODAY!
