Description

The R1100S is a motorcycle that stands proudly in the long lineage of distinguished BMW models. And like all the models with an ‘S’ in their designation, it’s a model that has inspired a passionate loyalty from its cult of admirers. This one, though offered as a PROJECT BIKE, is a fine specimen overall. It’s in very good cosmetic condition despite its age and moderately high mileage. Of course, it has some service needs that must be addressed (details below), and that is the main reason why we’re listing it as a PROJECT BIKE, but none of its mechanical deficits are particularly alarming. In fact, the bike starts, runs, and idles as it should right now. It won’t take too much to turn this machine into a perfectly safe, reliable, and fun bike with a long rewarding future ahead. To grab this great opportunity, call NOW: 1-888-269-2627 to speak with one of our BMW Certified Sales Advisors — Jim, Todd, or Kyle. Do it TODAY!

As with all PROJECT BIKES, we want buyers to know as much as possible about the bike before making a purchase. We’ve nothing to hide and our only goal is that the new owner for each one feels they paid fairly and got a good value in the deal. We encourage you to call, schedule a time to meet with one of our sales advisors, and inspect the machine in person to fully understand all the positives as well as the potential downsides involved in the refurbishing process. Please take a moment to learn more about Bob’s PROJECT BIKE program HERE.

The R1100S was technically a Sport Tourer, but the distinctive styling, ergonomic arrangement, and some of its performance attributes emphasized a more sporting attitude. The iconic Boxer Twin engine was tuned to deliver more punch than its other “Oilhead” cousins of the same period (mid-1990s into mid-first decade of the 2000s). It features BMW’s famous Paralever rear- and Telelever front-suspension, known for delivering precise and predictable handling that always inspire a rider’s confidence. Other notable touches that highlight the bike’s sporting nature are the twin mufflers that hide under the seat, the sleek rear cowl (removable) that covers the passenger seat, and the carbon fiber front fender.

This R1100S PROJECT BIKE includes some desirable EXTRAS too. It has a set of the full size BMW System Side Cases, and a taller, dark-tinted ZTechnik V-Stream windshield, Remus Stainless Steel Exhaust, BMW Valve Cover Guards, Knee Pads on the tank, and sporty Bar-End Mirrors. Taken together, all these features add up to a motorcycle of smart lines that cuts a stunning figure. Impressive by any measure!

The Night Black paint on this bike is gleams in remarkably great condition – defying its age. Where this PROJECT BIKE shows the effects of time and experience, however, is on the seat cover (surface cracking and a small tear), on the outer lids of the saddlebags (scuffs and scratches most noticeable on the right side), and on the right-side bar-end where paint has worn off to expose bare metal. (From a lot of vigorous throttle turning perhaps?)

Looking at the maintenance this PROJECT BIKE will require, we found that, beyond simple routine work such as oil change and basic tuning, there are two problems that will require a further investment of time and/or money. Our technicians felt that the ball joint that’s part of the front suspension should be replaced. And secondly, the ABS indicator lights are flashing in way that indicates a fault with the ABS. We did not do a full diagnosis of the issue, however, the Service Team noted that the superficial signs are consistent with the need to rebuild or replace the ABS pump. Neither of these issues should strike fear in your heart as it is not uncommon for bikes of this age and mileage to require such procedures. Please feel free to ask us for further details.

This bike comes with three keys, a full tool kit, and the original owner’s books. It’s a good bike now and has the potential to be a GREAT bike. Call Bob’s TODAY!
