The Super Ténéré was built for adventure, with an exceptionally compact 1199cc parallel twin with a unique 270° crank for excellent torque and traction. Thanks to its narrow 2-cylinder inline engine, mass was kept low for excellent handling, enabling a rider to carve tight lines in twisty mountain roads. Just a few of its many other features: ABS brakes, shaft drive, YCC-T fly-by-wire technology paired to a traction control system, selectable rider modes, adjustable windshield and seat height, generous 6-gallon fuel tank that allows for longer rides between fill-ups, a versatile luggage system… can you think of anything not to like about this bike? We can’t!
This Super Ténéré has some other nice bits added to further distinguish it such as a ROX handlebar riser set for improved ergonomics, and a beautiful carbon fiber slip-on muffler by Two Brothers Racing that’s matched to a Power Commander and K&N Air Filter to provide a nice performance enhancement. This bike carries a pair of Yamaha’s aluminum, adventure-style panniers that are spacious, rugged, and easily detached for excellent versatility. Rounding out the other convenient user functions of this bike, there’s also a rear luggage rack, hand guard protectors, a skid plate, and both a side stand and center stand.
This bike came to us with pretty good cosmetics to begin with; then after our in-house professional detailer got through with his magic, the machine now positively glows with rediscovered youth. Its elegant Matte Gray paint is ever so tasteful and looks great (no matter what you’re wearing!). Of course, there are a few minor indications that the bike didn’t spend its last six years just sitting in a garage. It was ridden — and that’s a good thing! Consequently, a close inspection reveals small scratches on both sides from soft tip-overs. You’ll find these “experience badges” in the usual places like the edges of one of the panniers, an engine guard, the brake pedal, a foot peg — but you have to look pretty closely. Otherwise, we found no indication that this bike was ever crashed or even in a harder spill.
On the maintenance end of things, there’s nothing but good news. The previous owner took the bike into his local Yamaha dealer for a routine oil/filter change along with a battery replacement and general checkup in May of this year. Since then he logged less than 1,300 additional miles. Still good to go. When the bike came to our service department for preparation, we renewed the brake fluid, installed a Battery Tender plug-in harness, and replaced both headlight bulbs. Most importantly, we installed NEW TIRES: the superb dual-sport Michelin Anakee 3 – front & rear – and filled them with nitrogen to enhance performance and longevity. Of course we gave it a complete service and safety inspection and took it for an extended test ride to assure every component and function was safe and performing at or above manufacturer’s specification. Finally, we put it through the rigorous Maryland State Inspection (MSI) which it passed. All in all, this machine is fit and more than ready to take you on any adventure you can dream of, on or off the tarmac.
The motorcycle comes with 3 keys (one is an alarm fob) and the original owner’s manual. Contact one of our certified Sales Advisors TODAY to learn more!
