As with all PROJECT BIKES we want buyers to know as much as possible about the bike before making a purchase. We’ve nothing to hide and our only goal is that the new owner for each and every Project Bike feels they paid fairly and got a good, if not great value in the deal. We encourage people to call, schedule a time to meet with one of our sales advisors and inspect each machine in person so they fully understand all the positives as well as the potential downsides involved in the refurbishing process. Please take a moment to learn more about Bob’s Project Bike program and read our general disclaimer HERE.
This bike really doesn’t need any serious work to bring it back to fully functional fun. Many of our customers will jump at the chance to save a BUNDLE on a great bike while also enjoying the short work of refurbishing it. The good news is that it runs well as is! It had major scheduled maintenance (18K Service) last year, and new tires were installed in 2018 — with not too many miles ridden since. We know this Project Bike was well cared for in its previous life (we have the service records!) and despite its age and miles, you can see that it certainly isn’t hard on the eyes. We gave it a good washing but it has not been detailed. While this distinctive looking motorcycle presents itself proudly right now, with a little more TLC, it could look fabulous.
It does have a few maintenance needs — after all, it is a Project Bike — and some of that work is required before the bike will pass Maryland State Inspection. Here’s what we know: It’s necessary to renew the upper and lower front ball joints due to excessive play. The front brake rotor and pads need replacement, and the rear rotor pads are very close to minimum spec as well. The entire brake system could use a fluid flush, and the grips are quite worn; replacement is recommended. None of these are jobs that would require large investment, and many of you possess adequate knowledge and skills to do the work yourselves.
But when the work is completed on this Project Bike, look what you have! — a splendid modern machine on which to explore further & faster dimensions in motorcycle pleasure. It’s essentially a naked bike with a minimum of bodywork added to give it some real sport-touring credentials — a very nice combination of comfort, versatility and FUN. The liquid-cooled, inline four cylinder powerplant delivers 163 HP of excitement. No one will have to wait for you to catch up — more likely it’ll be the other way around. Front and rear suspension is a cutting-edge tech combo of a Hossack-style BMW Duolever up front and a BMW EVO Paralever single-sided swingarm shaft drive. This one also boasts optional goodies such as Sport Wheels, On Board Computer, and Integral ABS II Brake system, as well as niceties such as Heated Grips and stylish clear turn signal lenses.
But perhaps the most outstanding performance feature this BMW K1200R Sport Project Bike offers its lucky next owner is VALUE. Grab this great opportunity before it gets away!
