This is a hard to find machine. BMW only built them briefly, and as a result, there just aren’t many that come to the market. One of our staff had a very tricked out example for many years which he thoroughly enjoyed until he upgraded to an S1000RR. This one has had just two owners to the best of our research over the years but it has always been well cared for but not here at Bob’s as it came from way down south originally. It’s just one of those bikes that no one logged many miles on so whoever gets it next is getting a true low mileage, very stock bike ready for use just as it is or with some personal additions the certified advisors at Bob’s can help with.
The Sunset Yellow combination with the black chassis, wheels, black stock seat and other visual highlights makes for a stunning machine. The driveline in contracting silver simply jumps out as a complimentary visual component of the full concept as designed by BMW in their secret studios back in the early 2000’s before it came into the production cycle.
Overall the cosmetics are in very nice shape but there are two scratches of note on the right side which are clearly shown in our images. But switches and controls, rubber parts, cables and hardware, wheels, the exhaust system, brakes and the rest of the exposed driveline show and spec out very well; we don’t think anyone in search of a fun, dependable, good looking all around BMW priced under $6,000 will be disappointed when they see and ride this offering.
A new BMW battery was claimed to have been installed about 2 years back and it arrived with fresh fluids everywhere. We’ve taken it out for an extended test ride (22 miles), run it through the MSI or Maryland’s tough Safety Inspection and confirmed that everything is solidly safe and roadworthy. The tires date from 2014 and 2016 and have between 85 and 90% of safe, sticky, remaining tread ready to be enjoyed. Our in-house professional detailer had a few hours to make it cleaner and brighter in all areas so while it’s not new, it sure looks close in most ways.
This offering while a basic machine without ABS did come from BMW with heated grips, the lower stock seat, clear windscreen, adjustable mirrors and the optional factory center stand plus we’ve added a fresh set of foam grip covers. These wonderfully fun to ride F800S came with Showa suspension components, Brembo brakes and a Bosch electronic engine management system from the factory. It has the owner’s manual plus one master key and the heavy duty plastic composite emergency key included.
