Among the many “Oil-head” twin models that distinguished the BMW lineup for a period of over ten years starting in the mid-1990s, the ‘R’ models were known as the no-frills basic models. But that only meant they were the most adaptable to an owner’s needs. You could take this naked standard and dress it any way you like. The previous owners of this one apparently wanted it equipped for some light touring or possibly commuting and day trips. Perfect. Its BMW System Saddlebags, optional Windshield with adjustable top wing, and added handguards would certainly meet those needs in a wide variety of weather conditions. This bike was ridden and obviously loved. It bears a few telltale badges of a life well-lived, but nothing that you’d ever be ashamed of. Incidentally, it’s called a “Limited” because of its special two-tone paint scheme which was only made in limited numbers.
The mileage on this bike is moderate for its age — not even 34,000 miles — still a youngster by BMW standards!
