Last belonging to a very good friend of Bob’s and the dealership, we are offering up this very decent, barely 10-year-young R1100S for our good friend’s widow. The bike is very ready to enjoy. While we don’t have the full ownership history since sold new in March of 2000, it is believed that it has had a total of just two owners. It has been serviced to ensure it is safe and roadworthy, and of course, passes the Maryland Safety Inspection (MSI), but we have not serviced it to the greatest degree one might desire if you were making it 100% turn-key, but it has no immediate needs.

We’ve left plenty of space with the very fair asking price so that if the next owner would like to have us, someone else or even handle it themselves, they’ll still be in a solid financial situation. The last owner did mostly all his own maintenance (fluids, filters, etc.) and light service over the past 8 plus years he had this machine; he was well known for taking good care of a wide variety of BMW’s – both his own and those owned by others he knew covering many decades of BMW machines and models.

The machine just saw, here at Bob’s, an oil and filter change with BMW fluids and filters plus a new oil sight glass (slight weep)  installed, the MSI and a new front Dunlop to match the fairly young rear from 2017 with a solid 85% of its safe treat intact along with clean sidewalls. We gave it a light bath and a light detailing job to freshen it up slightly for the next owner.  It’s been test ridden twice; once by Bob for about 10 miles before his evaluation at 40,221 and then another few miles by the Master BMW Tech who went over the bike fully and performed the requested work above. It starts, idles, rides, shifts, handles and stops exactly as you’d want it to – these R1100S’s are one of Bob’s all-time favorites, and FWIW, he owns two in head-turning condition.

This example is nicely equipped and comes with working ABS, clean discs and pads that pass the MSI (the rear disc will probably need replacement within 10,000 miles), a Sargent seat, a nice fast-detachable tank bag, a clear stock screen plus a taller tinted screen (not installed), a clean set of cushiony, grippy aftermarket hand grips, BMW cylinder head protectors, color-matched bar-end weights on the end of the factory comfort handlebar, the limited edition Mandarin Silver factory two-tone paint scheme with matching 10 spoke alloy wheels, the rear seat cowling and the taller stock comfort clear screen and a carbon look tank protector but a real factory carbon fiber front fender as was standard on these machines.

This one also includes BMW saddlebag mounts, a set of the BMW touring cases with logo and reflector plus an additional unmounted set of the slimmer city case lids that law enforcement agencies all over the world used on these bikes and greater numbers of R1100 and R1150RT-P’s. There is also a well-hidden aftermarket CAT eliminator and set of mufflers that add a little sweetness to the exhaust note when desired. This one also was supplied to us with the factory tool set (hidden under the seat) along with one ignition key and one key for the saddlebags; more can be cut for a small fee as desired for the new owner.

Cosmetically it is in overall very decent condition, however, it it does show a few minor scratches and small paint chips from the rides and adventures it has already enjoyed with prior ownership. We don’t believe that any of these small blemishes are significant enough to warrant specific mention here, though we always encourage prospective owners to make a thorough personal inspection in advance, and at that time we’d be happy to point out the tiny flaws that you might perhaps miss otherwise. Of course, with the right care products and a few more hours, you (or our pro in-house detailer) could make it sparkle well beyond its current very good condition.

Lastly, as we are handling this transaction for a good friend, we cannot place a warranty on this bike despite the great condition and passing the MSI following our extensive review. If it is purchased before the end of 2019 it will qualify for purchasing an extended service contract from Bob’s BMW which offers the next owner many benefits; please speak to Chris Sewell about this option. This is a great value and we’d love to help it find a new owner very soon – perhaps it’s you or someone you know?
