BLACK and CHROME never goes out of style. It just seems to speak to the essence of what makes us love motorcycles. Well, if that’s what speaks to you, this R1200C is certainly ready to start a long conversation. The BMW R1200C Cruiser series (1997-2004) was designed specifically to please riders who always wanted a roomy, laid back American-style riding posture paired with a machine built to German standards of engineering and reliability. Here’s a torquey twin that has the good manners not to leave behind an oily reminder everywhere you park it. This one’s got the taller, almost mini-ape hanger handlebar, so when you ride it you recline in the full comfort of a boulevard-cruising glory.

These models had an abundance of chrome — a crucial element in the American Cruiser aesthetic. This bike came into our shop in pretty good shape. Its only previous owner didn’t ride it that much over the years, but cared for it well and kept it securely garaged. Nevertheless, time takes its toll. Fortunately, our pro detailer was able to revive the paint and chrome to a very satisfying luster. This bike looks really good! You simply wouldn’t guess it’s TWENTY-THREE years old. But we don’t want to disguise the truth: the bike is not perfect. When you come in for a personal inspection and get down low for a close-up look, you’re likely to see some evidence of real life that no amount of detailing can erase. We’re talking about a few minor scratches in the usual places like the valve covers and bottom of the muffler, and bar ends. You may see a small paint scratch on the left side of the rear fender and a little dent on the right side. The chrome wheels on these cruisers are where signs of age are normally most apparent, but on this one the chrome is better than average. There is only a little bit of pitting or flaking and it’s mostly just on the rear wheel. Honestly, all these cosmetic issues are pretty minor and certainly nothing to diminish your pride in the ride.
Mechanically, this bike is totally sound. It has had some upgrades such as Stainless Steel Brake Lines and the improved brake/tail light housing. The previous owner had replaced the battery not long ago and it still checks out strong. Likewise, the tires are still fairly fresh with lots of remaining tread life. Nonetheless, we filled them with nitrogen to prolong their wear and enhance performance. The fuel tank has been relined. But in preparation for the sales floor and its next owner, our tech-masters gave it the full treatment. All fluids and filters renewed, a few seals and gaskets replaced, new brake pads installed on the rear, a new turn signal relay and a couple of bulbs replaced. Essentially, every part and function was checked and re-checked for safety and performance, thoroughly road tested, and finally, passed through Maryland Inspection. This classic Cruiser is ready to take you long and far without the slightest worry.
The bike comes with two keys, original owner’s books and tool kit. More importantly, this Cruiser also comes with our assurance that you won’t find a more beautiful, more affordable path to indulging your passion for Black and Chrome anywhere else. So call NOW.
