The 2017 GS Adventure is powered by the 1,170 cc, liquid-cooled version of the iconic BMW boxer-twin engine, and rides on BMW’s famous combination of Paralever rear- and Telelever-front suspension. This R1200GSA has had its full workout in our Service Department. A notable result in this case is that we found an outstanding warranty campaign to retrofit an upgraded swingarm drain which the previous owner had never responded to. So, of course, we did that job, but in that same warranty process, due to the age and mileage of the bike, were permitted to replace the driveshaft too! That’s certainly something to enhance a new owner’s confidence in this GS’s long-term integrity. We also determined that the rear brake pads were at their wear limit so we replaced them, along with performing a standard rear caliper service. Otherwise, you’ll find that all its fluids and filters are fresh, and the tires are less than six months old with a minimum of 80% of their tread life remaining. Of course, we checked to make sure every component and working system is in spec and in top performance condition. That also means it’s been completely safety checked and test ridden by our technicians. And, it has passed the Maryland State Inspection. This bike is ready for the road — or to go OFF the road if that’s what you choose. The future is yours to conquer.
Cosmetic impressions: Take another look through the photos to marvel at how a six-year-old bike of this mileage can look so fantastic. To see it in person will only elevate your astonishment. The only remaining signs of its previous life worth mentioning are on the left side where a few marks from what was probably a tip-over are still visible. You can see a few little scrapes on the engine protection bar (that’s what it’s for) and a mark on the outer edge of the handguard. On the right side, the only thing that might merit your attention is some mild staining on the muffler. It is superficial and hardly important. Get in very close and you may see the faintest remains of boot scuffs on the frame around the foot pegs. Otherwise, you will be hard pressed to find anything but perfection on this bike. The paint on all surfaces is flawless, there is no damage of any kind, nor are there any signs of the bike ever having been used off-road.
