This powerful, liquid-cooled R1200GS Adventure has had just ONE owner who purchased it new at Bob’s in November of 2016, then rode it regularly for the next six-plus years, loving every one of the nearly forty-thousand miles they traveled together. Importantly, this owner, a long-time customer of Bob’s, had the bike serviced here exclusively, returning faithfully for all scheduled maintenance and any other service needs that cropped up. So, yes, the bike has had some experience and it shows a little, but what matters most is its running condition — and that, you’ll be happy to know, is TIP-TOP.

Mechanically this machine runs with all the power and performance you’d expect — and then some. After making our thorough 38-point pre-purchase inspection, we completed a complete Bi-Annual maintenance on it which means that all engine & drivetrain fluids and filters were changed, brake fluid flushed and renewed, all engine and throttle settings checked and adjusted properly, and any other mechanical issues put in order. Truth be told, our service guys had it pretty easy with this bike because it had so well cared for previously! However, they did need to replace the clutch lever which had broken in a tip-over (more about that below). And they thought it a good idea to install a NEW REAR TIRE — a Michelin Anakee 3 which matches the front tire that was recently replaced and still has a LOT of life left in it. Both tires got filled with Nitrogen to maximize their wear and performance characteristics for the road ahead. Following its sales prep workout, the bike got a final check with an extended test ride and then passed the rigorous Maryland State Inspection. All good to GO!
On the cosmetic side, well, you can see that this bike was loved the way it was intended to be — meaning it was RIDDEN! It wears its experiences proudly. Our in-house professional detailer did an astounding job of deep cleaning and polishing, but keep in mind, an Adventure bike has a certain utilitarian look that doesn’t necessarily mix with the gleam and gloss you look for on some other kinds of models. Here you’ll find REALITY in the form of various little scratches and chips on the protection bars, scuffs in the paint on the swingarm (probably from the rider’s boots), a deeper bronze patina on the exhaust pipes, and …remember that tip-over we mentioned? Further evidence of that can be found in the scratches on the left-side pannier and top case. Also, a piece of the plastic corner trim is missing from the bottom-left corner of the top case. There’s also a minor dent in the right-side of the top case. Most of these blemishes are clearly visible in the photos. But it’s possible that in our earnest effort to be truthful about the bike’s cosmetic imperfections we’re being a little TOO critical. Because when you step back a little, none of these scratches and scuffs really amount to much. The bike looks good — like it was enjoyed. And isn’t that exactly what YOU will do with it too?
