his beauty was built new at Bob’s BMW to showcase our participation in the trike and sidecar world at the Timonium International Motorcycle Show here in Maryland. It sold shortly after it was featured in the August 2014 issue of Road Runner magazine. Alas, that first owner, a regular and longtime client here at Bob’s simply never found the time to truly enjoy it. So here it is four years later with less than 2,000 original miles looking every bit as perfect as the day it left offering a fantastic opportunity for someone in the trike market who does not have the nearly $50,000 a brand new one would cost to put out the door equipped like this one is. The last one we had just recently was sold very quickly.
For those reading this who are just curious we can tell you that trikes are no less fun than a 2-wheel motorcycle, they are just a different kind of fun with the benefit of NOT having to put your feet down at a stop sign or traffic signal. Ever. Your inseam is far less of an issue which makes a big difference for many.
This rig is beautiful in every respect and was built on a fully loaded, top of the line GTL before it was converted into a dedicated Hannigan Trike; which we feel are the best available, it came with the adaptive headlight, Bluetooth interface, radio software, central locking, anti-theft alarm, LED fog lights, dynamic traction control or DTC, Electronic suspension control, the safety package which includes the latest ABS, tire pressure monitoring or TPM, central locking, GPS prep, on board computer, heated grips and seat, electrically adjustable windscreen and more.
All prospective buyers should be aware that some of those features are not fully integrated when a bike is converted to a trike, it’s just the way it is. But rest assured this machine rolls down the road, handles the twisties and delivers fun and performance on the highest level. All with a significant improvement in stability for anyone who might feel a little challenged when stopping and balancing a heavy weight touring machine. These rigs are not only for older riders; in fact we’ve built quite a few for younger riders who want something different, cool and still provides tons of fun with a serious upturn in the head turning area.
This particular rig has several options available from Hannigan, all that stuff makes this one an especially fine value for the next owner. It offers optional foot fairings which have vents that open up to draw in a tremendous amount of fresh, cool air on the hotter days similarly to the factory side flip out vents in the fairing. It has the stunning alloy wheels, electric reverse, the 180 front end package which provides for a larger tire and custom front fender and widened steerlite package and of course it was all painted to match the factory paint perfectly. And this one has the optional vinyl stone guard covers for the fenders and a clear paint protection layer on the fenders and floorboards – a smart addition to help keep it looking new for a new owner.
There is also a very cool, beautifully complimentary ground lighting kit, BMW third brake light on the trunk, arm rests and a BMW Nav 5 GPS.
All services are up to date with a complete bi-annual completed here at Bob’s a few days before we re-acquired it. The initial break-in service was of course performed here at Bob’s before we built the conversion as would be standard practice. We’ve run it through our extensive full 2 page mechanical and cosmetic evaluation, then handed it off to our Master BMW techs and certified Hannigan installers to go over it again. It’s been through the tough Maryland Safety Inspection and passed the MSI easily with the addition of two reflectors at the rear that went missing. We’ve taken it out for an extended test ride (a total of 18 miles) the day it arrived to confirm everything works as designed (BMW & Hannigan) stamped our full approval on it before requesting the detailer have a few hours to brighten it up further.
As we’ve built several of these around new K1600GTL’s alone we can attest that between a new BMW K1600GTL and a new kit conversion, painted to match with a standard mix of extras the average out the door price usually breaks $50,000 so that’s just one reason why anyone interested in a trike, regardless of any brand loyalties they might have to Honda, Harley-Davidson, Victory or Indian to name just the big ones should be considering this their next ride. At this asking price we believe you will not be able to find a better machine, with more desirable options, fewer miles, better care or history unless you want us to build a new one and spend at least $50,000 to do so. Call us, schedule your visit, check it out and grab it today or at least be a good person and tell that friend you know who’s been talking about a trike to call Bob’s BMW.
It comes with the owners books, all keys and the alarm fob plus tiny tool set under the comfortable and heated seat. Very competitive financing is available for all qualified buyers.
