This bike is JUST what you wanted to start the New Year — a very well-cared for R1200RT that’s practically pristine in BMW’s super elite Midnight Blue Metallic finish. But because the miles are a little higher than average, the price tag is LOWER. Wait, do we hear the sound of corks popping? Well, you better hurry if you want to beat the others hoping to be first in line for this celebration!
The RT, being one of BMW’s most popular models is known worldwide as one of the best sport touring motorcycles made. And the fact that it’s the first choice of many police departments in the US and around the globe ought to tell you something, right? The power and handling of the RT along with the wind protection and sporty but comfortable riding posture makes this machine perfect whether you’re into coast-to-coast touring, day-to-day commuting, or anything else in between. If you haven’t experienced a BMW R1200RT, you need to get down here ASAP and take this bike for a test ride. At Bob’s BMW we allow and encourage test rides on all new and pre-owned models Tuesday thru Saturday, weather permitting.
This 2012 R1200RT came from the factory loaded with some great features:
• BMW’s legendary 1170 cc, air/oil-cooled, Boxer Twin motor; DOHC, 4 valve per cylinder, 110 HP strong!
• BMW Telelever Front and Paralever Rear Suspension
• ESA II (Electronic Suspension Adjustment),
• TPM (Tire Pressure Monitoring)
• On Board Computer
• Heated Grips
• Electronic Cruise Control
• Electrically Adjustable Windshield
• Spacious, color matched BMW Touring Side Cases, removable
• Accessory Power Socket
Then the previous and only other owner added some additional accessories to fit the bike to his needs; and we think you’ll really appreciate his excellent choices:
• Color-matched BMW 49 liter Top Case
• Sargent super-comfy front and rear seats – heated!
• Remus Titanium Muffler, much lighter than stock
• P3 Aux Tail/Brake Light for extra conspicuity at the rear
• Valve Cover Guards
When we acquire a pre-owned BMW for resale, the first thing we do is send it to our service department where our Certified Master Technicians give it a total top-to-bottom examination. Every system and component is checked and re-checked. If there is any damage, any part worn out, any spec below factory limits, a loose bolt — ANYTHING not right in the least, our guys will find it and fix it. We’re pleased to report that this R1200RT turns out to be one of the best maintained bikes we’ve had the pleasure to work on. Though it has moderately high mileage (67K), the important thing is that as it was ridden regularly yet also meticulously cared for and faithfully serviced. Most recently, it was brought to us for scheduled service by its owner in December – just a few weeks ago – and we changed the spark plugs, adjusted the valves, synched the throttle bodies, and reset the service calendar. The owner changed all oils and drained & replaced the brake fluid himself. Again, it’s a pleasure to see that this work was done carefully and correctly. (While we encourage owners to take a hand in doing their own maintenance where possible, we do see examples of work that’s unfortunately below par. NOT the case with this bike!)
We test rode it. Then we ran it through the rigorous Maryland State Inspection (passed, naturally), and we can affirm that, mechanically, this machine is absolutely solid gold and good to go the distance. Just one small caveat: the rear brake rotor is nearing its wear limit – perfectly normal for a bike of this mileage. While it is perfectly safe to ride now, you should, as its new owner, expect to replace that rotor in the not-too-distant future, depending on the miles you ride, of course.
Cosmetically the RT is in fantastic condition. On a scale of 1 to 10, we critically rated the paint, wheels, seats, windscreen, gauges, and controls all at 9.5 or higher. Even the side cases were scuff-free and that almost never happens! And this is before our detailer was put to the task of cleaning and shining it. (He’s a guy, by the way, who cleans places you didn’t even know were places!) The only thing we might mention is that there are some very tiny paint chips on the front of the fairing. But you know as well as we do, once a touring bike is ridden past the end of the driveway, it will have those little “experience marks” that come from the inevitable pebbles and stuff kicked up on the highway. But seriously, this bike looks awesome, as close to flawless as you’d ever expect. And it’s ready for a new owner — YOU — to have miles and miles of uninterrupted fun.
Being fully serviced and in such great cosmetic and mechanical condition this R1200RT is a Bob’s BMW Advantage Certified motorcycle.
