Up for sale is a 2011 BMW R1200RT. BMW called this color Polar Metallic. It has a touch of blue in the sparkle but depending on the light could be called a black or dark blue / black. It is a very nice paint color for an RT and looks great especially in the sunlight. This RT came from the factory loaded up. It has Bluetooth interface, side cases, ABS, electronically adjustable windscreen, heated Grips, The BMW on board computer, audio system with radio, low suspension and cruise control. We haven’t had a pre-owned low suspension RT in a very long time and one so loaded and well accessorized is bound to find a new home quickly.
This is a one owner R1200RT and although enjoyed it was well taken care of. The previous owner added a top case and had it keyed to match the bike. He also put on a low seat and Wunderlich bar risers. This creates a really nice sitting and riding position. The bike in general is significantly lower than a stock suspension RT. With the low seat as and the bar risers it is a really comfortable ride. He also added P3 programmable auxiliary brake lights, BMW valve cover guards and rear saddle bag guards.
Cosmetically the bike is in overall good condition. We had our professional detailer spend an entire day on it and it made big difference. As we would recommend with any motorcycle (or any vehicle really) a yearly detail goes a long way to maintaining the cosmetic value and keeping the original shine. Over the young 22,000 miles this bike has seen there are some paint chips and a couple small scratches. There are some boot marks on the cases and seat and despite cleaning up very well there is general wear from having fun riding this RT over the last 7 years. You would have to look very closely to identify some of the blemishes we see but we do want to be up front that this RT is not a 10. It is a very clean, very nice model that looks great.
Mechanically we found the bike to run and operate as designed. ABS (including front and rear brake), Clutch, Idle, Gearbox, Instruments and Steering all feel and sound great. We did an extended test ride and found the bike a blast to ride. The previous owner was ahead of his service schedule and did the full 24k + annual service at 21,000 miles in February of 2017. That is one of the larger service requirements and includes engine oil and filter, rear drive fluid replacement, gearbox oil, valve clearance check and adjustment (adjustment wasn’t needed – all was in spec!), all spark plugs replaced, alternator belt, front and rear brake fluid renewed, and throttle bodies were synced. New Michelin Pilot Road 4’s were installed at that time as well. Despite all that work having been done just over a year ago we still decided to renew front and rear pads, fixed a headlight wiring issues and removed some aftermarket low quality auxiliary lighting, did an annual service including engine oil and filter, brake fluid and reset the service calendar. We also ran the bike through the Maryland State Inspection and our 38 point Pre-Purchase inspection in which the bike passed with flying colors.
This RT is fully serviced, detailed, inspected and ready for its new owner. Included in the sale are two keys, the factory tool kit and original owner’s manual. Contact one of Bob’s certified BMW sales advisors today!
