There are always a fair number of clean used Harley-Davidsons available in the marketplace. But only a small percentage of those machines will be rated in the top five percent based our finicky criteria: ownership history (2 or less), low miles (less than 2,400 per year), documented service history (as much as possible), no visible “practice marks” or real damage (tip overs or worse situations), and also being well equipped with the extras most riders desire (adds value).
This one qualifies in all possible ways and exceeds in most! Since we diligently hunt for comparable machines when buying, trading, servicing, detailing, and then offering used bikes for sale, we also are highly confident that when we price a motorcycle, especially when it’s not a BMW (although we are very competitive here too), we are presenting a bike with very few if any equals based on any measurement we or a potential buyer might use to calculate their own value equation.
In the case of this fine machine we could not find any examples within 150 miles that had fewer miles (most had considerably more with some 2, 3, 4 and more times higher) and none were as clean overall or presented the solid recent and documented service history prior to offering it up to its next home. On top of that, we have completed all its called-for maintenance, put it through the Maryland Safety Inspection (MSI), which it easily passed, and turned it over to one of our a Master Techs for an enjoyable and diagnostic 14 mile test ride to ensure everything operates as it should. This machine starts, idles, accelerates, handles, shifts and stops without flaw and will bring a full sized grin to the face of the next owner.
Prior to its arrival here at Bob’s BMW in Jessup, Maryland, this bike was treated to a full $1,500 service at one a local, highly respected Harley-Davidson dealership. That service occurred in late 2015 when the bike had 7,069 miles on it (only 111 miles ago). All fluids and filters were changed. Front and rear tires replaced. Charging system checked. Spark plugs replaced. All critical hardware was checked and torqued. Brakes inspected and deemed well over spec. And the list continues, but it basically saw a factory level 10,000 mile service early. There was one open H-D factory recall and this too was completely addressed. Rounding it out, the technician recommended replacing the breather and the rocker box gasket during that 10K service as there was a small leak; this too was approved and completed.
We just changed the engine oil and filter for good measure but with less than 200 miles it was not required but we like to offer all new owners a fresh starting point for their maintenance history going forward. And then, as is standard practice here at Bob’s BMW we turned it over to our professional in-house detailer to make it look even better than when it arrived. On our 1 to 10 scale, we honestly feel that it rates a solid 9.7-9.8 rating on cosmetics and a solid 9.9 mechanically.
It has a nice selection of extras included such as the quick-detach leather saddlebags with authentic classic styling to match this beautiful machine. It also has a small matching windscreen/handlebar bag sitting neatly behind the quick detach H-D windscreen. To round out the desirable offerings, there are rider floor board heel guards, a passenger backrest which is easily removed when not needed, a luggage rack, and a beautiful, sweet sounding (a little louder than stock) H-D Screaming Eagle exhaust system.
This bike is in as close to new condition as one could hope to find in an adult owned, lightly used, well cared for 8+ year-young machine in all respects. This H-D will be delivered complete with a full tank of gas, the owner’s manual, 2 keys and the factory alarm fob. You will not find a finer used Harley-Davidson or a better value anywhere in the greater Mid-Atlantic region, if not well beyond that flexible geographic boundary!
