Description

This is a fine used K75C, and Bob’s is fortunate to be able to offer it for the second time! We sold this bike a few years ago to a long-time customer when it had 46,700 miles on it. It was in great condition then, and today, though it has some more miles, it’s still in great condition! That’s because its last owner (the forth owner so far) gave it great care, enjoyed riding it often, serviced it faithfully, and even put on a few additional upgrades along the way. The bike has just had a little more maintenance done here at Bob’s including getting NEW TIRES installed and filled with Nitrogen, a few small ergonomic adjustments, some bits of hardware and rubber replaced, good test rides done by Bob and our Master BMW techs, and of course, a complete professional detailing.

This classic black beauty (very few bikes are painted in BMW’s original Avus Black anymore) has DECADES of fine service life ahead. We can say this with some authority based on the countless K75s (new and used) that we’ve sold and serviced at Bob’s over the years. It starts easily, idles smoothly, shifts nicely, handles very well, stops quickly and smoothly, and basically does everything you’d want from a great looking, low mile, fully serviced motorcycle — offered at an attractive price point.

Shortly before this motorcycle arrived for trade-in, the previous owner brought it to Bob’s for a full fluid service (synthetic oils) including a brake flush and bleed. Over the past few years the last owner also upgraded the fuel injectors for better economy & performance and replaced the rear wheel (to get a fresh internal brake surface while new BMW wheels were still available) plus brake linings.

The Progressive rear shock was installed new at Bob’s immediately before we sold it in 2016 with less than 47,000 miles; it still looks and works like a new shock; the fork springs had been replaced shortly before that and still feel nice and stiff with good action. The battery is a nice upgraded model and was installed in 2018 by the prior owner according to his records. It cranks strong and we anticipate it has plenty of life remaining. All switches, lights, horn and other electrics work just as when it was new.

The speedometer did fail during the last owner’s ownership and was replaced with a solid used unit with LED light upgrades inside; it had 34,654 miles when installed and now shows 39,957 or 4,303 additional miles – add that to the original miles at time of replacement of 58,168 (speedo images shown below) and you get the current and pretty accurate mileage of 62,471 and we like to be as accurate as possible when it comes to mileage. Any test rides by prospective buyers or our staff prior to sale will of course adjust that number slightly. Again, everything on this bike works exactly as it should.

It has a nice array of standard and added extras including a pair of BMW accessory outlets – one by the coils which is very standard, plus another near the rear seat for use by a passenger. There’s also a BMW luggage rack, BMW saddlebag mounts with a nice set of the BMW Integral Touring Cases, hard to find BMW safety bar or crash guards, a National Cycle standard size sport windscreen, and slightly higher BMW handlebars for a more relaxed riding position. Adding to the comfort as well as complimenting the looks, there’s a black leather covered Corbin dual seat.  As was standard in 1988, this model came with a factory side stand and center stand, both in fine operational shape.

Cosmetically we feel this three cylinder example of one of BMW finest machines from the 80’s and 90’s rates an honest 80-85 on our very critical 100 point scale. All the paint appears to be original from the factory and has a very nice shine. It has a small number of little scratches on some painted parts, the saddlebags and seat show some wear from normal use. You might be able to freshen up the seat more than we did but we try not to hide any of the honest patina that makes leather so distinctive; and this seat still offers plenty of comfort and support – even for a larger rider.

The most visible paint blemishes are near the front of the tank on one edge and on half of the radiator shroud, but these are small blemishes in our opinion and not noticeable until you get close. There are a few scratches on the front wheel and a couple of very small ones on the front fender. If you look closely you will also see a few small scratches on the screen but nothing that prevents use or clear views.

All rubber parts, grips, peg covers, cables, hoses, covers, etc. appear to be in excellent condition.

The original instrument cluster is not included in this offering; it’s shown only for reference/ documentation purposes only. The bike just went through the Maryland Safety Inspection (MSI) process and was issued a clean “pass” certificate as it is truly a safe, roadworthy and turn-key motorcycle. It comes with 2 BMW keys which fit everything, however the bike does not have an owner’s manual or tool kit. We are sending it out with a complimentary Clymer Service and Repair manual, though, and should you desire a tool kit, we offer both original BMW kits and the CRUZ versions at very affordable prices. This K75C will certainly make its next owner smile for a very long time in our opinion.
