What better way to celebrate International Female Ride Day than to meet ELSPETH BEARD, one of the early globetrotters, before the technology boom.
Elspeth set out on a two-and-a-half-year solo journey around the world by motorcycle at the young age of just 23 with NO cell phone, NO GPS, and NO email.
Elspeth will share details of her 35,000-mile solo adventure around the world on her 1974 BMW R60/6, surviving life-threatening illnesses, riots, physical and sexual attacks, and motorcycle accidents along the way. Bob has a life-size prototype of her machine in his Vintage BMW Motorcycle Museum. The R60/6 will be on display the day of the event.
Returning home in 1984, Elspeth finished her architecture degree and now runs her own architectural practice and still enjoys riding.
Four decades after her journey, she published her book Lone Rider.
