If only we had 4 more of these waiting to be serviced and placed in the showroom for sale. Regardless of the year or model we never seem to have enough clean GS models available. Although sometimes it can be just the opposite and we have to wait for them to show up, get serviced and be completed. Regardless of our feast or famine dilemma this sweet R1150Gs represents a great opportunity for someone to jump into the adventure bike community or just have what many believe is the ultimate Swiss Army knife of motorcycles – no matter what logo is on the gas tank!
About the largest things we know of that were repaired was a failed oil sight glass and a heated grip failure. In addition to those mechanical items there were some minor cosmetic repairs (valve cover, cylinder guard, tank logo, sparkplug cover insert and the air tube) way back in 2003 when it had less than 15,000 miles on it. Since that time it appears to have just been enjoyed and maintained by the last owner and we see only a total of two since sold new at Bob’s in the records. We are guessing that our original customer sold it to the most recent owner as we did not.
Cosmetically it is really one of the cleanest we’ve had in a while, even the wheels and spokes/nipples are in far better than normal shape and other hardware shows great care over the years. The castings and coatings are all in fine shape as well. Rubber, frame paint, the screen and most everything really shows well and unlike some machines of this era the fork stubs and legs are also in superb condition. The factory headers show the normal amount of age for a bike like this. There are a few minor scratches on the saddlebags which can be seen in the photos but the locking tabs are in perfect shape. The seat does have a little wear on the sides where the vinyl is lightly cracked but it still has plenty of life left and the cushion is still cushiony.
<span style="\"font-size:" 12px;\"="">These days you can see the various upgrades that have complimented this bike over the years including a tall Z-Tech screen, BMW system cases key matched to the ignition, BMW luggage rack, a Bob’s wrist rest set, a set of PIAA driving lamps and REMUS collector and exhaust pipe which adds a very sweet note and some great style while also shaving off about a dozen pounds of excess weight. It is also complete with the factory tool kit and two keys but was missing the owner’s manual so we have included an almost new Clymer manual with the purchase of this bike. A very sweet ride!Color:
