This has to be the most perfect F650 Funduro on the planet and after seeing it on the sales floor Bob actually told the Sales Manager that if he had room (which he does not) it would be pickled and added to the museum. We have never had such a perfect example as this to offer for sales except back when they were new. And speaking of back then, Bob’s BMW led the entire country for 2 years in the sales of these fine single cylinders (the Funduro and Strada) because he chose to flip the 5 used BMW’s that comprised our dedicated Service Loaner fleet in the 1991 to 1996 time frame and place six (6) brand new F650 Strada and Funduros into that role in the spring of 1997 when they were introduced.
A few service customers expressed concern when they dropped off their much larger K1100RS or K1100LT when the staff brought around one of these smaller and possibly cuter machines, but that’s what was available and one by one when these customers returned the Loaners they all told the staff and in many cases Bob that these little single or ein zylinder machines were “fantastic” or “amazing” or in dozens and dozens of cases “this is exactly what I want to ride to work” and we sold them faster and in greater numbers than anyone else in the US for two solid years. Even with that demonstration some dealers never sold one at all. Bob’s ran those six machines for about 5 to 6 years and on average 30,000 miles each before offering them for sale. They proved to be one of the most dependable, low cost to operate machines BMW ever built.
Sold by Bob’s when new it is finished in what would was called Aura White from BMW and the paint is near new and perfect everywhere; just the decals on the rear side panels show a little age. Every other part of this bike looks amazing from the frame to the wheels, to the controls and windscreen. Even the seat is still firm with a soft, flexible covering like it was still new and these frequently got hard and cracked in 5 or 6 years. This bike easily communicates that it has been very well cared for and properly stored when not used and it arrived in running condition so despite the low miles it does not appear that it sat around doing nothing.
To insure that it is mechanically as perfect as it looks and despite the past service history we show in our system it was time to freshen up everything for the next owner in addition to giving it a very complete inspection (MSI & PPI) as is standard at Bob’s. The Maryland Inspection certificate is on hand as we generally offer with our select used motorcycles. The techs at Bob’s completed all of the following: new front and rear Metzeler Tourance tires and tubes filled with Nitrogen, a full Inspection II, 6,000 mile service with biannual (less oil and filter which had just been done before we purchased it), repair the front brake switch and cut two new keys for the ignition and luggage – including the extended test ride and MSI that’s all worth about $1,500.
The bike is equipped with a carbureted liquid cooled Rotax engine that has one of the best reputations in the world for durability and cranks out about 48 horsepower on a slightly over 400 pound machine. A single disc up front and in the rear brings it to a smooth stop. Despite its size it has a top speed of about 102 MPH should you desire to really zip around the Capital Beltway at illegal speeds.
It has a set of the highly functional and great looking BMW full size Integral cases or saddlebags and the later style BMW top case so one can easily travel the world and commute on this gem. There is also a Bob’s wrist rest cruise control set in stainless steel and the factory supplied center stand and the stock tool kit is under the seat. It has a set of BMW hand guards and the alloy bash plate to allow some off road fun without concern for as much ground clearance. It comes with two keys for both ignition and luggage, the tool kit and the owners book plus a Clymer repair or service manual and the BMW repair CD. Pure pleasure, fun, stunning good, if not cute looks and a great all around ride!Color:
