This is now a pretty perfect BMW Touring bike, one that is likely to be among the cleanest in the greater DC, northern Virginia and suburban Maryland area. We say ‘now” because while it was mechanically perfect upon arrival it had a few cosmetic issues due to being dropped on both sides in parking lots and driveways by the prior owner. It was simply a little tall for that person when he was stopped. Riding it was not an issue and he logged almost 27,000 miles before trading it in and switching to a lower BMW.
We defy you to find where our experts have refinished the left and right fairing upper panels or one of the saddlebag lids. Other than those items we also replaced the main fairing bracket with a new one from BMW as it was slightly bent; we’ve never believed that trying, let alone being successful at straightening these was in the best interest of our customers – be it their money or ours. We replace one mirror housing and the BMW emblems and rear bag reflector. We also performed the 30,000 mile Inspection I service and topped of the Nitrogen in both tires. We also upgraded the accessory outlet to a new Powerlet as is standard at Bob’s.
While in the prior owners hands, the second by our records, this bike also saw a full annual service 13 months ago at 26,500 miles so the maintenance seems to have been kept up to date all along. That is also when new Michelin Pilot Road 3’s were installed so these recent tires only have 3,900 miles on them and show no poor wear patterns and should be good for most people the rest of the main riding season. Your use could vary of course.
Our Top techs have also run this bike through the Maryland State Safety Inspection process as well as our tougher PPI exam so that it not only passes both but qualifies for the Exclusive Bob’s ADVANTAGE CERTIFIED Program.
It is also very nicely equipped; BMW included the Touring package that offered electronic suspension (ESA) chrome exhaust pipe, heated grips, heated seats, electrically adjustable windscreen, on board computer, accessory socket (now upgraded), cruise control, white signals, a low seat and the paint matched BMW touring cases when it was built. The stock seat was later upgraded by custom seat builder Rick Mayer to be even more comfortable.
Then the last owners added a V stream windscreen, BMW Nav 4 GPS Mount (no GPS unit is included as it was transferred to the new bike) BMW alarm, Stebel loud horn, Lo Jack, P3 lights, a set of brushed aluminum Moto Lights, BMW Multi-Vario tankbag, BMW cylinder guards, Kathy’s bag liners and the deluxe BMW top case with built-in back rest. There is even an Autocom system hiding under the seat that we’ve not checked out which may be an added bonus. It is offered up with all the benefits of the ADVANTAGE CERTIFIED Program as well as 2 BMW keys, the factory tool set, owner’s manual and a full gas tank.Color:
