Ok, we’ll readily admit up front that this one is not as pretty as the other 1991 K100RS Project bike we had that recently sold but this one does start and run. In fact we thought it was going to sell at the Project Bike Auction late last year, it even went out on a test ride but the potential buyer backed out. So now it’s available again and we think it’s a great value with lots of opportunity. Maybe all you want is a bike full of great spares for your current K100RS.
When it first came in several staff asked if they could ride it and over a few months we logged about 550 miles. That was back on the late spring of 2012 and then it was pushed into a corner of the warehouse and unfortunately sort of forgotten about because so many other better looking machines kept arriving. There are factory saddlebag mounts but no bags. It has a Supertrapp exhaust and a Bob’s wrist rest. It is missing the factory belly pan and there are the remains of cylinder guard mountings but no actual guards. All the gauges and switches seem to work fine. The center stand is MIA.
Bob’s actually sold this bike twice before as a good used BMW. Both owners logged miles and cared for it during their time. The last owner made the less than cosmetically attractive upgrades but he put the most miles on it and we’re watching him do the very same on the bike he traded this one in on. It did start right up for our auction and go for a 3 mile ride. It also started up again about ten days ago but despite the battery being on a tender it’s beginning to tell us that it’s going to die soon. A fresher battery will not be included if it drops dead.
<span style="\\"font-size:" 12px;\\"="">Going forward should you take this one home as your own project bike we’d suggest fresh fluids and filters all around, a brake bleed, a new battery and a set of tires so that all the rubber that meets the road is sticky and fresh. We also feel the front brake disc mounting hardware is due to be changed and that’s also standard for full floaters. There is a little evidence of some weepage underneath but we think whatever it is can be put off quite a while or it may even be reduced with some more regular miles. It’s priced to sell so don’t wait too long and all of the standard PROJECT BIKE purchase conditions and parts benefits apply.Color:
