Now this is a near impossible bike to locate in the Mid-Atlantic region unless you want one with 50,000 or more miles. Almost all the examples we sold have not only been kept by those original owners but they all ride them a lot so they don’t look anywhere as nice as this machine is.
Originally sold and delivered in Tennessee in 2003 this bike came to us from the second owner. We’ve seen the bike periodically since we did a full MSI for that acquisition back in 2004 when it had about 7,000 miles. Clearly the nice guy we got it from just never had the time to ride it as often as we know he desired. But his loss of use is what makes this bike such a great value for you. With under 11,000 original miles it really has not gone through what we’d consider the break-in period yet. It was never off the road to our knowledge and we did a full Inspection II/12K/Biannual service in May of 2012 at just 10,726 miles.
This machine came in to us in near flawless cosmetic condition but there were a few very tiny nicks from what would appear to be a garage tip over into or onto something else – it just does not look like it made contact with a concrete or asphalt surface. If you examine the bike very closely you’ll see these on the left main fairing panel and the right side saddlebag and the upper edge of the right main panel. For all we know something in the owners garage fell against the bike. These are exceptionally minor.
Besides those notes you’ll be looking at, or acquiring anew new condition machine from an esthetic perspective. Everything else like the driveline, the wheels, the seat, the exhaust, the hardware, the frame and even the finicky windscreen are all in beautiful like new shape. We almost always find a small number of fasteners, rubber parts, etc. to address but not this time.
Because of the slid mechanical and maintenance side of this bike we did not have to perform a full service; we did a modified annual to bring the oil and filter and the brake fluid up to current dates – it had been less than 200 miles since everything was done here at Bob’s. so we changed and bled the brakes, changed the oil and filter and because the tires were simply old we installed new Michelin’s front and rear including Nitrogen.
The BMW Certified Master Tech performing this work then took it out for an extended test ride, completed our exhaustive PPI process and ran it through the Maryland State Safety Inspection process. It’s a winner in all categories as one would expect. Even the official BMW warranty history is as clean and uneventful as one can hope for. We were also informed that a new Odyssey battery was installed in 2012 as well so there really should not be anything a new owner needs to do besides ride this bike for thousands of miles before coming back to Bob’s for a scheduled service.
When sold new it was equipped with BMW’s Tele-Lever and Para-Lever suspension, ABS brakes, heated grips, heated seat, adjustable windscreen, paint-matched wind deflector-hand guards and electronic cruise control. At this price point we are sure it will sell fast so call, email or just swing by and check out this beautiful example of one of BMW’s best sports touring machines. Only because it is now older than ten years it does not qualify for our ADVANTAGE CERTIFIED Program but in all other regards it is that caliper of previously owned BMW. Purchase includes the owner’s manual and spare keys as expected.
