1968 R69S with Rare Steib S250 Sidecar offers many features: This R69S (#662307) starts and runs great and really needs nothing but a new home. It has only 65,000 original miles and has very good but not flawless cosmetics and boasts the BMW 6.5 gallon Sport tank which still has the original and excellent internal coating. It has a pair of Denfeld Solo Seats and the folding Denfeld Luggage Rack. It is equipped with a set of wide European Sidecar Handlebars trimmed with the Alloy Hella Bar-End Turn Signals and the correct handlebar switch. It’s also fitted with an original pair of Albert Headlight Mirrors. A 6 Volt H4 upgrade that includes a change to the bulb, reflector and lens generates far better illumination after nightfall. The BMW Aluminum Rims are in excellent condition and have been re-fitted with Stainless Steel Spokes and Nipples. Metzeler Block K Sidecar Tires are installed front and rear. The entire exhaust system is in excellent condition and is of the correct BMW style and manufacture and there’s even a correct Tail Light Guard. During the time the previous owner enjoyed this machine, it was serviced here and we saw to it that various items like cables, rubber parts and anything else was upgraded or replaced as needed during that time frame in addition to his personal attention.

As for the Steib S250 sidecar (# 2144) that’s attached it was most likely manufactured in the mid to late 1950’s as that’s when Steib produced the short run of this very desirable and rare body style. It’s lighter than the more common Zeppelin nosed S350 and S500 series meaning you can toss a few more inside without weight issues. It was restored sometime in the early 1980’s by the person Bob purchased it from some years earlier and while there are a few areas where the paint is showing some age, it still looks great. The seat and the arm rests are in the correct red and are in great shape. The windscreen and spray skirt as well as the full tonneau cover are also in good condition. There is a generous trunk that’s easily accessible behind the seat for storage. The BMW roundel shown on the nose trim is also correct as these were delivered most often as a BMW standard sidecar in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. It has the full valance fender, with pinstripes to match the bike and has a very desirable original Cobra Arm handle and light sitting atop the fender to make entry easier as well as offering illumination after dark if connected to the motorcycle. There is also a Steib step plate mounted onto the frame between the bike and car. Equipped with the standard 19 inch chromed steel wheel and an Avon Block tread tire for good service which is easy as the wheel is also supplied with an original alloy Steib knock off hub spinner.
