1992 BMW R100GS

The GS or "Gelande Strasse" (off road/road) was introduced to the world by BMW in 1980 and hit the ground in 1981 as the R80GS. In integrated all of BMW's on and off road engineering knowledge. In the spirit of the famed ISDT bikes the GS featured a 21" front wheel and high mounted fender and in 1981 Hubert Auriol won the grueling Paris-Dakar Rally on a modified R80GS - a legend was born. The introduction of the R100GS brought, the now renowned 980cc Boxer twin with 5 speed 'box and shaft drive with tubeless cross spoke wheels, the paralever rear suspension replaced the mono-lever and the engine made about 60hp over the 50hp of the R80. Luggage mounts (luggage not included but new BMW side cases available for under $700), engine oil coolers, lower engine bars, upper fairing bars, tachometer, and side case mounts were also standard. The GS was the chosen mount for world travelers. This is a really nice later airhead GS weighs in at 463lbs and will do 100mph. It's a modern era bike so you get a 12 volt charging system. This bike is in the "bumble bee" scheme, features a Corbin seat, and we just installed new push rod seals, head and valve cover gaskets and oil pan gasket.
