Bob\\\\'s Project Bike Here\\\\'s a good story to go with a used bike! Back in 2005 Bob\\\\\\\\\\\\'s sells this ex-CHP Authority bike to a long time customer with just over 60,000 miles on it. He rides it and allows us to help him care for it for the past 8 years. It comes back on trade towards his next bike with a little less than 185,000 miles looking pretty much exactly as it did cosmetically when he rode it home. He has his new (used) BMW from Bob\\\\\\\\\\\\'s and we get the pleasure of finding a new home for this machine again -- not an unusual occurrence but not often with this many miles. We always operate at full disclosure, especially on our project bikes of which this is one, so right up front we will tell all those potentially interested in this RT-P that there\\\\\\\\\\\\'s a noise coming from the engine. We cannot know for certain unless some exploratory work was done and we are not going to do that. Two of our techs believe that it is a damaged, loose or worn out timing chain rail. This could be a small relatively easy task if we are correct and it is on one side of the motor of a larger more time consuming and complicated repair because it\\\\\\\\\\\\'s on the other side. The last owner says he was riding it like this for quite some time but we\\\\\\\\\\\\'d think it should be addressed sooner instead of later. Other than this noise it starts, runs, stops, handles and looks far better than any bike that has almost 185,000 miles on it that we\\\\\\\\\\\\'ve seen in quite some time. It did get the dual seat conversion long ago so the rear radio box is not included. It now has full sized BMW saddlebags instead of the smaller city cases and they have two different keys; the left bag also matches the ignition and this could easily be corrected if you desire. It has a very nice Cee Bailey\\\\\\\\\\\\'s windscreen, a Bob\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Wrist Rest cruise control, front and rear crash guards, the locking Police side stand, rear luggage rack (a BMW trunk can be mounted to this) clear LED\\\\\\\\\\\\'s in the Police lamp housings, extra switches, Plexiglass headlight guard, dual BMW accessory outlets and the BMW rear red lights and probably a few small items I forgot to mention.
Yes, despite how great it looks from ten or even five feet away it has some cosmetic blemishes. There is some rust on some of the chrome racks and guards, some scrapes and scratches on the bag lids, some paint has been worn where the officers beautiful tall leather boots make contact and if you look at all the images a few other items worth paying attention to -- that's why we provide all these high quality photos. We have NOT run this bike through the MSI or PPI process and don\\\\\\\\\\\\'t plan to. We encourage anyone interested to call, make an appointment and then come and inspect it personally to decide if it\\\\\\\\\\\\'s the right bike for you. As a reference we recently sold a non-running 2000 R1100RT-P that had been sitting for several years and was in nowhere near this good cosmetic condition for $1,700. This bike runs, is a generation and 2 years newer, has the full sized bags and looks new by comparison. Call, come and inspect it and make us an offer we can\\\\\\\\\\\\'t refuse and it could be yours.
