For anyone who has not seen the stock 2014 BMW R Nine T, Bob’s is pleased to announce we will have one on the showroom floor for an extended period of time. These models are coming and going as soon as they come out of the crates across the world, but thanks to a very generous customer at Bob’s, he has agreed to display his at Bob’s until he returns from his travels in a couple weeks at which time he will take delivery of this hard to get model. Odds are you will not have a chance like this again, so if you want to be one of the few that can say they have seen the R Nine T in person and to snap some pictures (she is very photogenic!), stop by Bob’s before its gone.
In other R Nine T news, iconic fashion brand, GANT Rugger recently unveiled the completely customized and modified version of the 2014 BMW R Nine T, known as the “Brooklyn Scrambler.” Only 6 are being produced and will be sold in dealerships throughout France. Read More>>

Every year, May is dedicated to reminding motorists to share the road with motorcyclists. Bobs has always planed the safety of its customers and all who ride ahead of all else. As more bikes put rubber to the road motorists need to be more alert and motorcyclists need to be reminded how to ride smart and ride safe. Do your part as a motorcyclist and take a few minutes to read through General Guidelines For Riding A Motorcycle Safety provided by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.
For many years, Bob’s BMW has helped spread the “Share The Road Message” via its 2 trailers and a 5′ x 40′ hillside banner visible from Route 32. This image will soon be converted to magnets and bumper stickers! Stay tuned.
To help other riders pass along the message, through the end of May, visitors to Bob’s BMW will receive a complimentary “Watch For Motorcycles” sticker. Ask any of our parts staff behind the counter.

The sky was the perfect shade of blue and the temperatures hovered around low-mid 70’s at Bob’s BMW on April 26…another successful Open House in the books; some even suggest the best yet! Watch Video>>
Scott Keimig, BMWBMW President said, “In my 20 years of attending Bobs Spring Open Houses, I thought your April open house was the best that I recall. Perfect weather, nice selection of vendors (my favorites: visiting Ayres Adventures, Tex from Gerbing, Sarah from Schuberth, the Parks’ from Road Runner magazine, and Lou.) Very tasty food, and most of all your placing the club table in a primo position to collect foot traffic. Speaking on behalf of BMWBMW, we really do appreciate your continual support over the years, make that decades.”
Thanks to all the riders and passengers and even the passerbyers that joined us, thanks to all of the vendors that participated, and a special thanks to Rider Insurance for sponsoring the event for the second year in a row!
We received rave reviews about the Gourmet Food Truck, Wolo (“We Only Live Once.”) we had on-site. Long time friends and Bob’s Ambassadors, Bob and Donna Torche contacted us the next week stating, “We wanted to let you know that the Food Truck at the Open House this past Saturday was off the hook AWESOME!! We split the Brisket sandwich with fries…yummy! Best food truck cuisine we’ve had in a very long time — or maybe ever…???”
Door prizes this year included a BMW GS Dry Women’s Jacket won by Lynne Moore (Laytonsville, MD); BMW GS Dry Men’s Jacket won by Jim Kay (Columbia, MD); Scala Rider Q3 MultiSet won by Karey Lesche (Millville, NJ); KLIM folding spectator chair won by Dan Kenney (Mechanicsville, MD); $50 Bob’s BMW gift cards won by Dave Larrabee (Annapolis, MD), Jerry Donovan (Beltsville, MD), and Gregory Petchel (Alexandria, VA); Road Runner Subscription packages won by Leif Taylor (Hanover, MD), Brent Firestone (Long Beach CA), and Glenn Miller (Virginia Beach, VA); Gift Certificate to Cassies Cookies won by Jerry Larner (Ellicott City, MD); Alpine Star Rolling Bag won by Steve Donald (Columbia, MD); One-of-a-kind t-shirt created by Artist Renee Tantillo, won by Todd Berry (Arlington, VA); and Free Admission to The 5th Annual Charm City Mods Vs. Rockers Show won by Richard Hayes (Alexandria, VA). Congrats to all!
We did experience one hi-cup which we were sorry to announce to the crowd, particularly the dozens of sport bike riders in line but around 1pm the DYNO began experiencing technical difficulties and had to shut down…it seems it couldn’t handle all of the power coming from the BMW S1000RR’s
The good news is the DYNO will be returning to Bob’s BMW so anyone who was unable to run their bikes at Open House can come back by Saturday, June 21; same price $15 each or 2 for $25. Arrive early to get tickets and reserve your place in line, plus at 11am a Sport Bike Maintenance and Customization Tech Session will begin. The session will include tips and suggestions from our experts on ways to modify and enhance your high performance bike, and some great accessory options that will simply make it look good!
Thanks again to all and be sure to check the online calendar for more exciting events coming this year at Bob’s BMW!

On April 14, 2014 NHTSA announced BMW North America is recalling model variants of 2005-2011 R1200 models; 2005-2012 K1200, K1300, and K1600 models; 2010-2011S1000RR models; and 2006-2010 HP2 models. Affected models could develop cracks in the flange resulting in a fuel leak and will either need the fuel pump flange reinforced, or the entire pump replaced. The service will take up to 2 hours to complete (at Bob’s BMW) and will of course be covered under warranty.
BMW North America will be notifying owners directly and/or you can call Bob’s Service Department for a VIN check. Personally, Bob’s BMW has sold over 900 affected units so you are encouraged to contact us immediately if your bike fits the above mentioned years and models for a VIN check. Please note where you purchased your bike does not matter. If you are on the road reading this and near Bob’s BMW, Bob’s Service Department is able and willing to help. To date we have serviced and corrected approximately 100 (give or take) affected bikes and we are continuing to schedule appointments.
Finally, if by chance you own one of the affected bikes and had work done to your fuel pump previous to this recall being announced, you are encouraged to contact us to review your work order as some parts may be eligible for reimbursement.

Exclusively at their 2014 Open House, Bob’s BMW will introduce the incredible GG Taurus, a BMW powered, 175 HP, three wheeled, street legal creation from Switzerland that will be available for your personal inspection.
The GG Taurus is sure to create immediate lust and outright drooling by every two, three or four wheeled enthusiast that sees it in person. Tell your friends, even those who do not ride motorcycles, to join you on April 26 at Bob’s. And yes, you will be able to touch it, sit on it and even have your photo taken while in the saddle to share with your friends on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other Social Media sites.
Built by Swiss company Grueter and Gut Technik, or GG for short, the Taurus is a high performance hammerhead trike, a fascinating vehicle with a bold design and even more impressive build quality that conceals a heart thumping 1,293cc German inline powerplant. If you’ve ever seen the Ferrari Yellow Duetto sidecar rig that Bob owns, rides and shares frequently this was designed and is built by the same company.
Until now it has never before seen on US streets. The Taurus is now available for the first time through a small number of select dealers of which Bob’s is the first. The big-bore engine is capable of developing 175 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm, while being coupled with a 6-gear transmission along with suspension, brakes and tires worthy of a formula track car.
The Taurus weighs in at a very nimble 875lbs (without fuel or rider) and has a massive 9 gallon fuel tank to provide a vast cruising range. With a top speed of almost 140 mph, this is one fast trike that all of your friends, neighbors and co-workers will be seriously envious of.
The GG Taurus is the most exclusive 3 wheeler on the planet. This is the Ferrari of bikes and will only be owned by a select few. It is customizable so each owner’s GG Taurus will be exclusive to him or her. This 3-wheeled bike is truly a revolution that will turn heads anywhere and everywhere for the next few decades.
White Glove, Red Carpet delivery is offered with every purchase.
We know you want some technical details before you see it:

It was a long winter but many of our customers didn’t let that stop them from having fun with the team at Bob’s BMW, and winning some great prizes along the way! Riders came from near and far to participate in our first annual “Road to the Arts” and “High Mileage Polar Bear Challenge.”
High Mileage Polar Bear Challenge
The Polar Bear Challenge was a 4-month high mileage challenge that attracted over 30 riders, locally and out of state. We were thrilled with level of interest and look forward to doing it again next year! Thanks to all that participated and a big thanks to Rev’it USA and Gerbing Heated Gear for sponsoring the challenge and donating such great prizes each month including two additional grand prizes for the male and female cumulative high mile riders. Congratulations to all who survived this year’s Polar Bear Challenge! We hope to see you and many more next year for the 2nd annual event. The 2013-2014 winners and reining champs until next year are:
Road to the Arts
Bob’s motorcycle version of “Road to the Arts” originated from the efforts of Howard County Arts Council to integrate art within the community by placing sculptures throughout the county every year. The contest challenged motorcycle riders—all makes and models—to visit Bob’s BMW located in Jessup, MD, pick up a “Road to the Arts” map provided by the council, visit as many ARTsites listed on that map, take a selfie in front of each sculpture, and email their pictures in for a chance to win a gift certificate to a local restaurant. A minimum of 6 ARTsites had to be visited, and riders’ “selfies” had to show them in motorcycle gear, and in front of the sculptures. Eligible participants were entered into a drawing to win $50-$100 gift certificates donated by the BEST restaurants in Howard County: Aida Bistro, The Iron Bridge Wine Company, The Kings Contrivance, Frisco tap House and Brewery, Café de Paris, and Portallis.
Thirteen riders participated this year and with the contest running in March, a month that had two snowstorms, Bob’s is looking forward to an even bigger turnout next year! This year’s lucky winners were:
|Craig Dyson||$75 gift certificate to Café de Paris|
|George Van Mater||$50 gift certificate to The Kings Contrivance|
|Janet Conley||$50 gift certificate to Aida Bistro|
|Jeff Eaby||$50 gift certificate to RANAZUL|
|John Cioccio||$100 gift certificate to The Iron Bridge Wine Company|
|John Dicarlo||$100 gift certificate to Portallis|
|Jonathan Tan||$100 gift certificate to Frisco tap House and Brewery|

This local 2-day workshop is a great resource for riders wanting to develop more confidence and expert riding skills. Creator, Jim Ford takes a max of 5 riders per workshop on a journey through the Appalachian Mountains.
“It’s not about riding fast. Instead Jim slows you down and introduces—layer by layer—skill by skill—The Art of Riding Smooth. Being smooth means heightened awareness, and a relaxed presence of mind. Being smooth means safety and fun at any speed especially through curves. Essentially The Rider’s Workshop is a study of confidently motorcycling mountain curves.”

Look no further. With the season in full speed ahead, Bob’s is looking to add an additional apparel specialist to the team so we can be sure customers are getting “The Ultimate Shopping Experience!” every time they visit the store.
Peter Meade, Bob’s Parts, Apparel, and Accessory Manager has been offered and accepted a job in California from Perusa, an investor in the Schuberth brand, to assist them in bringing over a new line of motorcycle apparel from Germany and introducing it to the states. Although he will be greatly missed, we are thrilled to hear he will be assisting the motorcycle apparel industry in growing in the States! So YES this means we currently have a huge opportunity available at Bob’s BMW. But be prepared…the chosen candidate has some big shoes to fill! Farewell and best of luck to you Peter!
