Q. I‘ve
got to be careful how I spend my money. How do I know I’m
getting a good deal?
A. Everyone
is price conscious these days, and so are we! At Bob’s, we
want our customers to feel confident they’re getting a FAIR
price. Truth is most of our prices are within pennies, one way or
the other, of the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Rest
assured we don’t pile on additional mark-up, as many
dealers do. On the other hand, you’ll be glad to know that
we DISCOUNT many of our most popular products.
It’s a tough marketplace out there and we simply must be competitive,
and that means you WIN! Please understand though, it’s never
been our aim to be the cheapest guys in town. (If you’ve
tried them, you’ve probably already discovered that you get
what you pay for.) On the contrary, we’re trying to be the
BEST guys in town! And so our prices must also support the VALUE
we strive to include with every purchase you make: knowledgeable
staff, prompt service, extensive inventory, courteous customer care
with backup after the sale, and much, much more. That’s
service that costs a lot of money to provide, but that we feel you
deserve.
Q. I’m
suspicious of ominous sounding fine print. What’s with all
the ‘Prices may change without notice’ stuff?
A. We
don’t blame you for worrying. We’ve all learned the
hard way that there really are bad guys out there who manipulate
prices unfairly just to gouge customers. At Bob’s we simply
don’t play those games. Our success depends on you coming
back again and again, so how could we afford to risk losing your
trust? The fact is, however, prices really do change (a lot
lately), and it’s not a game. Here’s why: The
great majority of the parts we sell are imported from Europe, and
you don’t have to be a Wall Street analyst to know that the
dollar has been much weaker against the euro for quite a while.
These currency fluctuations are affecting us all. For instance,
BMW sends us multiple pages of price changes every month,
all effective immediately! With our other vendors in Europe, costs
change with nearly every order we receive. Unfortunately, most of
the changes these days are upward. But try to remain calm; costs
also go DOWN, as they have before and will again. When they do,
our prices will also fall accordingly. The point is this: We try
to keep our prices stable as much as possible, but some cost increases
are bound to occur which we cannot afford to absorb. You may not
realize that the motorcycle parts business operates on margins far
slimmer than most other retail businesses. So to guarantee that
we’re here to serve you next month, next year, and the year
after that, we have to adjust prices as the marketplace dictates.
And this is why we feel compelled to reinforce the message that,
yes, “prices are subject to change without notice.”
We update prices on our web site and in our download catalogs as
fast as we’re able, but some lag time is unavoidable. We don’t
want you to experience unwanted surprises, which is why we urge
you to PLEASE check with us to see if there are any price updates
before you order.
